Well, the silver thing is silly, but don't knock the badger-hair brush.

Several men I know swear by using soap and a proper shaving brush to get a really close shave and keep the skin in good condition. However, a decent brush and soap can definitely be had for under $50, (without the fancy little stand to hold the brush and razor.) My dad used to put a wire eye in the end of his brush so that he could hang it from a hook on the wall.

No, I work for a higher-end department store that sells Art of Shaving items. I happen to be checking things out in the men's area for gifts and saw that set and couldn't believe the price either, although the product line is very good.
