It was going to be an awesome birthday weekend....this weekend. My husband and I were heading to California for the first time, our first vacation without the kids in 5 years!!! Flying into San Diego, spending a day, driving to Anaheim and going to DL for MY VERY FIRST TIME....ON MY BIRTHDAY. We were packed, ready to go...checked in for our flights...waiting patiently! And then....the school called...our youngest is sick (insert sad music here!) She comes home and she's got the flu! There's no way we could leave now. My sister was supposed to take the kids for the weekend while we were away and before I'd even made up my mind about not going she blurts out "well your youngest daughter can't come to my house now! The oldest one can but I can't take the risk of my family getting the flu...you'll have to send her to her grandmas!!" So that kinda ruined the whole trip too. But I wouldn't have gone anyway...it wouldn't have been possible to be in CA, worrying how she was the whole time. That's what love is...you make sacrifices. Oh well, no one died, no worries...things happen for a reason.

sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip, glad to hear that your daughter is feeling better.

That's a bummer!! But DL will be there next year! Make a new reservation for next years birthday!

Oh I am so sorry. :( I guess it just wasn't meant to be after all. I hope she is felling better. I'm like you, I couldn't have gone either...I would have been a worried mess and wouldn't have had any fun anyways.

Ahh, I'm so sorry. I hope your daughter is feeling better. What a bummer and bad timing :(

Talk about disappointment -- that is IT. :( I am really sorry your little muffin has flu and that you had to cancel your special trip. That is the pits.

DH and I have a trip planned to DW in November without our two princesses, and I am secretly worried that something similar will happen and we'll have to cancel. Like you, I'd stay home in a minute, but still, how can you not be disappointed???

Happy birthday to you!! I hope your precious one is feeling better and that the rest of the family stays healthy. I'm also sorry your sister's words hurt you....

Oh No, I hope she feels better soon. Maybe you can postpone for another weekend.

Thanks everyone! I knew you'd understand my pain :) All day long my husband and I have joked that "oh right now we'd be waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion" or we were sitting on the couch and I raised my arms up and hollared "it's just like we're on space mountain!" We're laughing about it...cuz really, what can we do? My little girl is still not well and I'm hoping the rest of us don't get it. I'll just have to keep lurking on here and scoping out another time we can plan a visit!

Sounds like you have a great attitude about an unfortunate situation. I hope the next trip you have planned goes off without a hitch.

Oh no......... :sad1:
But yay Mommy!!!!! for chosing your baby over the happiest place on earth.

Oh, I am SO sorry to hear that! My heart goes out to you. What a disappointment, and I'm sure your little girl feels bad, too, that you couldn't go.

I hope it's not swine flu?! (aka piggy sniffles, hamthrax) Hope she feels better soon. You made the right choice, of course, and you have a great attitude about it, but nobody can blame you for feeling let down!

Please tell me you had trip insurance and you didn't lose a whole lot of money on it, too??

On our first family trip, my oldest got very sick on the plane on the way there. She would get a little better each morning, go to the parks, then get worse. By the last day she was REALLY sick. Not a happy girl! But we made up for it-- she and I went on a mom/daughter trip 6 months later, and it was great. I hope you get a do-over, too!

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! For you and your husband and of course your little girl. I hope she feels better soon and I hope you find a way to get to DL sooner rather than later! :grouphug:
