I'm at Disney now (glorious - at BCV). I'm here celebrating my daughter's graduation (girl only trip - we left the guys at home). :thumbsup2

Anyway - we spent the whole day a the pool today. I was lounging having a mojito (yum) and this couple walked by with three little ones in tow (between the ages of 2 and 6 or so). The husband turned and said to his wife, "I can't thank you enough for all your hard work planning this trip. Everything is just perfect. You must have worked really hard getting everything ready and planning everything."

I just thought that was the sweetest thing...believe me - it's hot down here and most people have been a little, shall we say, whiny? It was so refreshing to hear something so kind. :cloud9:

That's great!

A couple years ago, DH and I had a blowout at WDW where I told him to keep his criticisms to himself because he'd had plenty of time and opportunity to give his input when I was planning the trip and he'd just say, "whatever you want to do is fine". But, of course, once we got to WDW, he kept grousing about stuff (nothing major but annoying, you understand?... stuff like "We should go to Sea World today! Why aren't we going to Sea World" "Umm, because we would have needed to plan to do that and rent a car or something to get there?"). Well, once I (rather strenuously) told him how much time I'd spent planning the trip and how I was NOT going to drop everything in the middle of the trip and replan it all, things settled down a bit.

The very next day, we were having dinner and I overheard a couple having the exact same argument/discussion. When I saw the husband leave the room, I went over and told the wife that I had totally had the same issues with my husband the day before. We both had a good laugh.

That was so sweet! Thanks for sharing.
I also thought it was a good reminder to remember to show appreciation to those around us whose efforts we sometimes just take for granted.

I'm blessed with a sweet, appreciative husband like that. I am the obsessive planner of the family. To me, planning is half of the fun of the trip. My husband always thanks me for making the trip so fun for the whole family.

Last summer, Gary surprised me with a trip to NYC (we'd never been before). He said that he considered not telling me until time to pack. But knowing how much I like to research and plan, he told me about 5 weeks in advance. By the time we left, I had a folder with tickets for the Bon Jovi concert (one reason we were going), tickets to Mary Poppins on Broadway, tickets for SoL/Ellis Island, tickets for a food & culture tour in Greenwich Village, as well as tons of subway directions using hopstop. He again thanked me for being so prepared and making the trip so memorable.

It's fun to plan, but it does feel good to know it's appreciated.

That is really nice and sweet. My dh really never says anything to me but when other people ask about our trips he always tells them I plan it all including dining and we have never had a problem yet. So I guess he is appreciative..!

Same with my husband - he wouldn't help out at all with planning, then out of the blue he started making random suggestions "let's go do Buzz, oh, or we could go do Splash, then Buzz, then that railroad ride, then..." about 2 hours into our first morning at MK. I swore at him, and Mickey should have tossed me out on my ear, but I was so frustrated that I let it pop out of my mouth before I could stop it. To all those that witnessed it, my sincere apologies.

That woman with the appreciative husband better hold on to him as tight as she can, I want him! ;)
