We are down to 55 days till our surprise 6 days in the world! I can't tell anyone for fear of leaking to the kids! After 5 years of job losses, house foreclosed, and many disappointments it is finally our turn to give our family the dream vacation!! I am so glad I found this board and am loving reading everyone's tips! Just had to come share!!! YAY!!!

Sounds like you and your family definitely deserve this vacation! Keeping quiet will be worth it!!! Have a wonderful trip and take lots of pictures, especially when you tell them!

Thanks!! It feels so awesome to tell someone! Lol. My husband thinks I have lost my mind I'm so excited! . I know my 11 yr old DD will probably cry when she finds out. She wants this trip just that much. My 8 yr old DS will be over the top excited as well. The next 7 weeks needs to fly!

It took me forever to make our trip happen too. We told our kids at Christmas but I am even more excited than them because I've wanted to take them for so long. My husband thinks I've lost it too!

I'm so happy for you and your family! I'm glad you found the dis too so you can come and share your excitement while waiting to give your kids the surprise of their lives! A lot of DHs just don't "get" the whole Disney excitement, but wait until yours sees his kids' reaction...he'll "get" it then!! Have a completely magical time!!!

I’m excited for you…for you trip and for the recovery you’ve had happen that made it possible. Our first trip in 2010 was after years of trauma and drama and tragedy too although we went through different things. It was also a surprise for my then 7 year-old dd. She and her baby brother had been the main reasons I held on to my sanity. It was so gratifying to take them on that trip, especially my daughter who had been asking to go to WDW for three years.

Hold on to the secret. Come here and talk about it all you want. It will so be worth it, although whenever you tell them it will be a big surprise.

When you tell them, take pictures or record it or both. I will never forget that night, and the moment dd realized she was going to Disney World.

How fun for your family! We surprised our kids for their first visit and I'm glad we did. I'll admit, those Disney commercials where the kids find out always make me tear up

Congrats!!! Sounds like you and your family deserve it. I'm also trying to surprise my kids for a January trip and keep my mouth (and everyone else's ) shut. Take video and have fun!!!!
