So frustrated. Member Administration told me my letter with my member ID had been mailed out on Monday. It didn't come today. Again. How is it that it takes over 5 days for a letter to travel from Orlando to Denver? Do they send resale buyers' letters by Pony Express? Should I be expecting to answer the door in a few weeks and find a sloth standing there with my member ID letter in its hand?

I have points that expire on 8/31/13 and want to schedule over Labor Day (8/30-9/4). As I said on another thread, I am worried that there will be no availability for a 1 BD or 2 BD, even at SSR and OKW. We really wanted HHI, but I know that is a pipe dream without an 11 month booking advantage over LD. :sad2:

Okay. Vent over. Please send positive vibes for tomorrow's mail delivery. :thumbsup2

We have family in Florida and anything we mail them gets there in a few days but anything they mail us takes forever. I think that is just the way of Florida postal system. I just got my membership number. It took six days from the postmark date. Don't stress you will get it any day now.

Good luck.

As I have posted before, IMO this is just another way that Disney punishes resale buyers causing more people to buy direct.

How can they sell VGF, take a deposit over the phone and have the points added to the buyers account the same day or the next day so they can make a reservation?

They can do it when they want to.

1) Florida postal service is the worst.
2) If you want instant gratification, buy direct not resale.
3) There's still availability for Labor Day weekend, so don't worry!

It's going to work out - you'll see. Both OKW & SSR still have your dates available or a 2 bedroom. Very likely they still will when you get your number.

Just to clarify...those points that expire on 8/31/13 can ONLY be used for the first two nights (8/30 and 8/31), not for 9/1-9/4. Just wanted to make sure you knew this so you could plan accordingly:surfweb:.

Thank you for the reassuring comment. Yes, I knew about the lack of instant gratification when I bought resale (and that was the only thing I could have talked my husband into; never would he agree to guy direct). But it's a little bit like being 9 months pregnant at this point-- I know it's going to happen, but every day that it doesn't seems more like a week.

Thanks so much for checking. Hoping it's tomorrow!

Yes, I think we'll take care of them nicely in one night. :) (There are only 25 banked points.) But in all sincerity, thanks for adding that comment to the mix. It would have been awful not to realize that, and maybe it will help someone else in a similar situation.

Disneynutz, it's all of your posts that have made me aware of the intentional foot-dragging. :)

I also wanted to add that in terms of *problems* to have, this doesn't really rate, considering especially all the suffering we've witnessed this week in the news. So thanks for giving me permission to whine about something so transient and trivial. And thanks to those who reassured me anyway, despite the annoying whining.:goodvibes

You can't really blame them, it's a business and they don't make any sales money from resales. I just wish that they would stop playing games and take the long view because resale buyers will still be spending thousands and thousands of dollars at Disney.

A little love goes a long way.

Think how much you saved - probably thousands of dollars- well worth it to wait a few extra days for a letter!

Got my letter today, so I called to set up my online account, and I booked a 1 BR (pool/garden view)at BWV for our entire stay! So, as you all said it would, it did work out. :)

Congratulations! Now send some magic our way; we're still waiting for closing. I know it's not going to happen over the holiday weekend, but I'm checking my email obsessively anyway. :surfweb:

There should be a name for this syndrome. "DVC OCD" or something. :lmao:

Now, that's some Disney Magic! Congrats!!

There was actually a lot of availability. I was surprised. In the end, we debated between a 2 bedroom at OKW and the 1 BD at BWV. Kidani Village 1 BD was a close 3rd. There was even all but one night for a 1 BD at BLT. This will be my husband's first trip to WDW (not a theme park fan) and we wanted to make it good for him. While the space would have been nice at OKW, I think the proximity to Epcot for evening strolls will be nice. Also, there are a couple of nice dining options on the Boardwalk. My daughter (12) and I just returned from a stay at the Yacht Club, so she was totally spoiled by Stormalong Bay, but promises not to whine about it. Her choice was BWV. We won't have a car, so that was the deciding factor. Seems like OKW might be better with a car.

Congrats! I am glad everything worked out for you. I am in a similar situation and waiting to receive my membership number so I can book a trip to Aulani during the same time period. I am a bit frustrated and worried but hopefully everything will work out.
