Sept 30 thru October 8!
Coming up..Coral Reef, Wolfe gang pucks express, Le Cellier, 50's PT, Columbia Harbor House, Spoodles, POR food court, Tusker House,
California Grill, Ohana, Kona, Mexican CS at Epcot, Earl of Sandwich and much more! Stay tuned!

oK, i'll admit that this is a blatant excerpt from my trip report on the trip report forum, but i know when i was getting ready for my trip i rarely read those and always read these, so here are mine i hope you like :)

all ratings are 1 - 5 stars

Dinner!!! (the important stuff huh?)

Now this was the ONLY restaurant that made us wait more than 10 minutes the entire trip, we had to wait 45 minutes for our 6:10 adr's, which as you can see, we were not alone. Product of free dining? I know this is also the place we recieved the worst service from a waiter, not BAD per say, just very slow. NO WHERE DURING ANY MEAL DID WE EVER FEEL RUSHED ONE BIT, INFACT SOMETIMES WE WISH WE HAD BEEN RUSHED. (there i said it in caps, and it was true, never were we asked what appetizer we wanted and what our dessert would be at the same time).

Coral Reef, this was my sons choice as he loves everything ocean including eating the little boogers! I’ve been very nervous about this meal for all the mixed reviews, but I shouldn’t have been worried at all as it was fabulous.

For appetizers DD and I had Lobster Bisque and OMG IT WAS TO DIE FOR. Small bits of sweet lobster and a cheesy soup, it was so very good. This was one of the top 5 best things I ate all week. DH had shrimp cocktail and said this was just ok. It was served with asian noodles that just didn’t have the right flavor.

we liked this bread better than the bread at le cellier!

My DH and I had the Strip Steak which was extremely flavorful and cooked perfectly, very tender. A demi sauce that wasn’t over powering. I small amount of scalloped potatoes that were forgetful, but we ate them anyway All in all very good.

disneyday12054.jpg
best steak of the week next to le cellier. In TX we call this a strip steak, not a sirloin as stated on the menu.

DD had shrimp pasta and didn’t like this. It was very bland, with little flavor and the shrimp was a bit on the fishy side.

disneyday12053.jpg
this was not too good, just barely "ok"

DS was allowed to order off the kids menu (yes they knew he was 10, and they didn’t seem to care if we paid OOP for a kids meal even though he is on the adult dining plan, it was a non issue thing) He had kids Mahi Mahi which was very very plain and french fries that were ok.

disneyday12052.jpg
this was ok, son wont eat veggies, and it came with brocolli, hey he was on vacation, he ate all of what was on his plate that wasnt green tho :)

Dessert
disneyday12061.jpg
chocolate wave, this was ok, but not my fave, to sweet for me, but good. notice the cookie was missing, but oh well :)

disneyday12062.jpg
this was the pinapple cake, my DH liked it very much

now we were celebrating two birthdays this week, mine and my DS's, and they had these adorable little menu's printed up for us waiting for us on our table. We were also seated infront of the tank, i suppose for the view of the diver. Loved it,even if mickey didnt dive :)

The big deal tho..isnt the food, not even the wonderful ambience (which was wonderful) but I had called ahead (learned this from other DIS’ers here) to get a diver to hold up a laminated sign saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER. He swam right to the window and held up the sign. OMG the look on my son’s face was priceless. He later came out of the tank to meet Tyler. He was very gracious.

coming next....50'S PRIMETIME AND WGP EXPRESS :)

Excellent start ~ Can't wait to read more :thumbsup2

We had an early lunch at 50’S PRIMETIME. :3dglasses

This was a very cute restaurant. My kids and DH loved the decorations. We requested Auntie Claire due to huge love for her here on the boards. She has been there for eons and even has a huge scrapbook. We didn’t get a prime table, but we got a prime server.

This was DS’s first sign of the impending meltdown that would occur later. I wanted him to share a meal with DD of fried chicken as both are light eaters, and order a side of fries. HOW DARE I SUGGEST THAT! So fine, he got a milkshake and funky chicken fingers off the kids menu that Aunt Claire let us pay OOP. DH got the Pot Roast and me and DD had the fried chicken. As far as the food goes this was probably the lowest of ratings on our trip, but do not get me wrong, it was still good, just not REALLY good. We started off with onion rings, fried cheese and shrimp cocktail, all of which was very good. We were hungry and didnt take pics of the appetizers...darnit. Good thing tho, this would BE THE ONLY TIME i will forget to photograph munchies in the world!

disneyday12131.jpg
this was actually good, loved the collard greens, but on both our plates DD’s and mine, only one piece of chicken was crispy, the other a bit soggy.

disneyday12133.jpg
DH liked this pot roast a lot. He cleaned his plate and was giving a “licked my plate clean” award and Auntie Claire made a huge and loud announcement that Cousin Terry cleaned his plate and the whole restaurant applauded. My hubby gets sooo embarrassed by things like singing waiters and stuff that this was priceless.

disneyday12139.jpg
this is the biggest smile of the lunch, beginning of the end of our day together. Sense it? I also believe Auntie Claire wasn’t as playful as she would have been for fear of making butthead ahem, I mean DS cry. Oh this is his birthday cupcake, for which he complained. Butthead.

disneyday12141.jpg
brownies and ice-cream, what’s not to like?

disneyday12142.jpg
s’mores these were ok, DD is a s’mores snob though.

disneyday12138.jpg
Auntie Claire putting a bid on Kelly after she had a spill…naughty messy little girl.

disneyday12144.jpg
Aunt Claire was awesome I highly recommend her!

Food ** Service ***** ambience ***

Dinner 10pm
Wolf Gang Pucks Express. Now don’t make our mistake, after a long day at MGM we were starving so I wanted to try WGPExp. We went to DTD and hiked to wgpexpress to find out they have 2 OF THEM. One express attached to the café (downstairs) and . another one in the Market place DTD. Very confusing. Make sure you go to Market Place if you are on DDP. The servers here deserve a small tip as they do bring out your dinner and refill your drink. My hubby left our server about 3 dollars (we refilled our own drinks tho..he just brought out our plate.) I dont think most people tip anything. Kinda like those girls at sonic :)

disneyday12265.jpg
BBQ Chicken Quesadilla DH got this, but he was cranky LOL said it was just ok, heck I tasted it and it was wonderful. Remember this is CS with wait staff and glass plates. Gotta love that.

disneyday12269.jpg

WP- Warm Chicken Aioli - Sliced chicken breast, melted provolone cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, and cilantro aioli. This was delicious.

disneyday12267.jpg
Margherita - The classic from Naples with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, tomato, fresh basil, and tomato-basil-garlic sauce. This was delicious!

disneyday12266.jpg
DS was still cranky, so he didn’t eat much, but did get a kids chicken fingers. Remember I told you earlier that he is an adult, I had more trouble telling people to charge us for an adult than to let us pay OOP for a kids meal. I guess my guy is small, but wow just the opposite of what I thought would happen.

disneyday12270.jpg
mashed potatoes with garlic butter. It was ok, I’m sure it would have been great with chicken, but as a side, it was just ok. I got it to try it due to rave reviews from DIS’ers. They didn’t charge me, I suppose it was late and they didn’t care lol. It was my free pixie dust so who am I to complain.

disneyday12264.jpg
crème brulee. Didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped. I like my brulee cold in the center and warm at the top. This was warm throughout.

WGP express Food ****, service ***, ambience ** best counter service of the trip.

We got back to our rooms well after 10:45, so for DD and me it was a very long day! We all fell asleep immediately with happy thoughts of our day tomorrow at Epcot!

Coming next…Epcot…and Mom’s meltdown. Le Cellier and the margarita from hell.

I'm lovin' these reviews. You do such a nice job explaining everything and the pictures are like ... well, like the icing on the cake! Thanks for sharing!!

:cool1:

oohhh the margarita from hell, can't wait to hear more!

Great reviews and pictures, looking forward to the next installment. :Pinkbounc

OMG! Auntie Claire is still at 50 PTC?!? I have got to make a ressie for there next summer and request her. She was our server when I was pregnant with DS who is now 4!!! She's been there for EVAH! Wow! Thanks for sharing your awesome reviews and pictures!

My DD and I were next to you at Coral Reef! I thought I recognized your son in the window with the diver behind him and then when I saw your picture at Prime Time (I was facing you at Coral Reef,) I was certain.

I loved the birthday wishes from the diver, how cute!

Love your reviews and pictures, keep them coming!

Hi all! Day 3 of my foodies trip report (I have a regular trip report but somehow I know my fellow foodies will appreciate this more )

Ok so this beautiful day was spent at EPCOT. It started bright and early at 9am. We were good for a while riding rides and enjoying 88 degree sunshine (tho it was a bit hot to me lol)

We got hungry and headed to Mexico. We stopped at Cantina de San Angel. Now were from Texas so were pretty picky about our Mexican food, but we liked this so much that we ate here twice our trip bypassing all other CS in the world. My DD did eat Chinese one day but didn’t take a picture. Shame on that girl, I thought I trained her right!

worldshowcaseandspoodles001.jpg

Plato Combinacion - chicken taco, beef burrito and a quesadilla served with black refried beans and Mexican salsa $7.99. We both (dh and I ) ate this same meal twice. That quesadilla was more a fried sopapia with cheese in it.

worldshowcaseandspoodles003.jpg

Cantina Nachos - tortilla chips, beef, cheese, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, sour cream, black refried beans $6.99. DD ate this, she said it was OK..she was the most picky of the group anyway.

worldshowcaseandspoodles002.jpg

Plato del Nino - child size beef burrito, tortilla chips and a small soft drink $3.99. Ds ate this twice and enjoyed it very much. His was a quesadilla tho with cheese and chicken breast. He wont eat a burrito LOL.

disneyday3037-1.jpg

Dessert was churros. My family liked them, but my son fed mine to the annoying birds ON OUR WAY OUT of the patio eating area (sorry for those left to deal with them lol)

So we spent some time milling around Mexico and everyone had these yummy looking margarita’s. It was hot and they looked yummy. Now looking back I can truly understand why most theme parks do not serve alcohol.

I am not a drinker. I had maybe 1 drink per day on my vacation and not every day at that. That is vacation…at home I don’t drink at all, very rarely. So myself and my DD who is 22 and still finding the ideal of alcohol somewhat a novelty, but alas as an adult I’m not telling her she can’t have one, saunter on up to the kiosk to order our margarita’s. They were swirled, strawberry, kiwi and I believe peach together.

Somehow going in they reminded me of a slurpee from 7-11. Let me tell ya what…they AIN’T NO SLURPEE I EVER HAD….egads.
disneyday3040-1.jpg

disneyday3042-1.jpg

So there I am with my margarita and I pass by Kringla Bakeri Og Café in Norway and I had to stop in and get a school bread. OMG remember how I said that the lobster bisque at CR was one of my faves of the week? Well this WAS my favorite thing I stuck in my fat mouth all week. So good that later in the week I got another one.
This was a thicker donut like cake with the absolute yummiest vanilla custard inside, ice cold custered, (but curiously the donut wasn’t hard and cold, rather soft and yummy) on top was an icing, that while sweet wasn’t over powering, with lots of yummy moist coconut on top. This cake was big enough for 3 to share, but to bad for me, my family hates coconut. TO BAD SO SAD…(my hips and thighs spread atleast 2 inches from eating this bread lol)
worldshowcaseandspoodles008.jpg

worldshowcaseandspoodles010.jpg

While eating the school bread and drinking my margarita I was fine, infact better than fine. I was feeling GREAT. Ummmm really great. …..until I get up and walk…I get to china and then BAMMMMMO the margarita from hell kicks in and my legs feel like they are enclosed in quick sand. I look at my DH and say “I gotta go back to the hotel..i’m drunk.” Just like that. I’m drunk. I’m such a wiener. My DD feels fine, and wants to stay. You’d think she’d be worse off weighing a whopping 110 lbs, but then again, maybe I don’t want to know that she can handle her booze better than her 40+ yr old mom. Egads.

So off to the front of Epcot we go. Why btw do they sell alcohol all the waaaaaaaaaay back in the back of the worlds when you gotta walk all the waaaaaaaaay back up front after you drink them. I swear my head pounded and I was green.
We got back to the room and laid down a bit and I felt so much better! About 3 hours later we headed back to EPCOT again to eat at LeCellier.

Copyofdisneyday3060.jpg

Our much anticipated dining experience was here at last! The ADRs that I had had for 5 months were about to be fulfilled. I couldn’t wait! I was worried all the months of high expectations would be ruined with one bad experience.
I shouldn’t have worried one bit.
We arrive at 6:30 for our 6:40 ADRs and there is almost no one waiting ahead of us! Wow! A very nice hostess notices Tylers Birthday button and asks him to please help her seat a few quests. Ofcourse he gets really excited. They gave him a badge that said special host and handed him a pile of menus and he yells out ROBERTS TABLE OF 4. I start laughing hysterically. The Roberts looked a bit bewildered. Meanwhile my DH has no clue that he is supposed to be seating strangers and starts yelling TYLER WHAT ARE YOU DOING! I laugh even more hysterically.
th_disneyday3043-1.jpg

Tyler had a great time, and somehow my little diser and planner mentioned to the waitress that I had been worried about getting one of those little tables that are all connected by the booths..that are arm pit to elbow..so low and behold we got a table for 4 in a corner not even near anyone else. It was by far the most peaceful dining experience of the trip.
Ok, for the food. YUM. Nothing but YUM.

disneyday3029-1.jpg

Vine-Ripened Tomato Stack - shiitake mushrooms, wilted spinach, balsamic reduction $7.99 DD really loved this.

disneyday3030-1.jpg

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup - smoked bacon and Moosehead beer $4.99 . the rest of us had this for an appetizer, and though it was good, DH liked it better than I did, I thought it tasted like baked potato soup.

disneyday3033-1.jpg

DD and I had the mushroom filet. Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb beurre blanc, topped with fried parsnips $27.99

disneyday3032-1.jpg

Seared King Salmon - with sweet corn, edamame succotash, and corn puree with Maple-Ginger Glaze $19.99. My son had this but with none of the “extra junk” on the plate as he would say, he just wanted fish with maple glaze and French fries..he got what he wanted!

disneyday3035-1.jpg

DH had 14 oz. New York Strip Steak - roasted garlic, grape tomato, frisee, and roasted Yukon potatoes, and finished with veal demi glace $26.99

For dessert…ok, My dh is a big hunting he man, and look what he ordered!!
disneyday3039-1.jpg

I got the crème brulee and dd got the sorbet, both were to die for. The best and the smallest crème brulee I’ve ever eaten. DH and DS both ate the moose.
disneyday3038-1.jpg

This was by far the best dining experience of our week.
Food *****, Service *****, Atmosphere ****

Again we came out of dinner just intime to walk to England and Paris and watch the fireworks. Heaven.
disneyday3050-1.jpg

Coming up next... Disney day 4..A day off from the parks :) Dinner at Ohana and a few hours at DTD and lunch at Earls.

:Pinkbounc so I was extremely interested in LeCel since we have an early dinner ADR there. I'm glad to read that it was yummy!

Thanks for the heads up on the Mexico counter service...DH was a little miffed that we weren't eating at the TS there, but last time I was underwhelmed with it. The plato looked fabulouso!

Looking forward to more reviews!

Tracie
