do they always push the package so much?? I called to book room only ~ AAA discount. I am hoping for free dining, but we're going no matter what so I figured I better get the room booked before the rooms sell out. We really want Pop rather than All Stars and I didn't want to miss out on available rooms at Pop.

Anyway, I told her I would only book the package if we got free dining again (we went in 2005 for free dining) She tells me if I book room only then free dining is offered, I would need to cancel and make a new reservation and sometimes there won't be any availability left. But if I book a package now, then free dining is offered all I need to do is call and they will add the free dining to the existing reservation. She was really pushing it.

That got me thinking ~ I wonder if she knows something about free dining coming out soon and figured it woudl be easier (for her and me) if I book the package then add the free dining later. Or am I just grasping here??:rotfl:

ETA ~ I didn't end up booking anything yet because she took so long and I had to go pick DD up from CCD. I told her I'd call back later

She is correct that if you had a room only res and decided later to book a package that the room only res would have to be canceled and a package booked. And bookings always depends on room availability, whether it be package or room only.

oh yeah, I know all that, I just thought it was weird how she was pushing the package so much...like it was better deal than room only discount. I guess I'm just grasping at a sign that free dining will be offered again!

I'm not sure.. but I believe they get much better commissions on packages than they do on room only. In fact, their room only commissions might even be flat rate.

That's interesting. My lady didn't push the package at all after I told her I only wanted the room. She did try and sneek in the insurance but no other pressure.

But, the ressie was wrong. She changed all of our last names to my maiden name:lmao:

I have a room only reservation...for two rooms at the WL for May. I wasn't sure(still aren't) if we want to add the dining. Wanted to check the availability in the restaurants first. As our last trip we cancelled because we had the dining and there wasn't anything-anywhere available to have a table servcie meal at. It was during a free dining promotion. Anyway..we were ready to reschedule and I received a pin code mailer..and was able to use it to secure a room only reservation at the WL for May. At that time, they asked if I wanted to make it a package with the dining..and explained my apprehension. Said I would think about it. They told me it wouldn't be a problem to change it to a package if that's what I decided to do at a later date. They did indicate that the room only deposit would be credited back to the card it was charged to, and that the package would require another new reservation and deposit. When I specifically asked if I would loose the rooms..by cancelling..and was concerned that they would be able to obtain them back with the package..reservations assured me that was not an issue, and shouldn't be a concern. I've seen several conflicting posts on this subject..and I'm pretty hesitant to change anything at this point. Maybe best to stick with what I have.
