Just took the plunge.... well- sort of...

Gave our deposit and closing costs today for 100 AKL points.

the "sort of" part:
I'm on the wait list for phase 1 (May UY - i think). Buying now for phase 2 seemed futile.... so I will either buy phase 1 NOW or sit and wait for a Contemporary announcement or look to resale.

I'd like to buy now.... so Im hoping to get lucky with the waiting list- my guide seemed to think we had a good chance given our spot on the list...

arg... now im getting nervous. I really expected a quick call back....maybe that was unrealistic.

I'm in the same boat that you are... I'm on the waitlist for Feb or Mar of 2008. I was told that the waitlist for april 2008 was about 5-6 long as of yesterday and that I should expect to have points available for feb or mar in the next week. I just put my deposit down for 160 pts yesterday.

I just bought in last week at Jambo house with February 2008 points. $100 points through Disney Directly. Is that what you are talking about? I didn't even ask for it, thats just what the guide gave me.

I went to the doorway to dreams in Chicago tonight... the guide there also told me that there would not be a problem getting these points... usually within a few days!!!

My guide is out of the office until Saturday, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our points will be ready soon!!!

I'm now strongly considering an offer on a resale (in a location we prefer slightly to AK)..... Arg.... or do I wait till July 1st to see if there's an annoucement????

I was told again last night that the points will come through, it happens all the time!!!

I think we would probably prefer boardwalk as our home resort as we really love that one... but I've heard a lot of really nice things about AKL!!! Besides, this gives us a good excuse to add on in the next year or two!!!

I've got it in my head that BLT is going to be priced too high (points per night price) to really want to stay there, so I'm not as excited about it as I was... maybe that will change when the announcement is made!!!

Well, I never got the phone call I was waiting for to let me know Imade it to the top of the list....

Instead, I got a FEDEX box in the mail with contracts to sign!

Congrats!! We were in the same boat as you. We love WL and really love the location of it especially the boat to MK which is where we spend the majority of our time right now. We definately thought we should buy there if that's where we want to stay, however, in the end we decided to go with AKV which we also love. We always have a car so transportation is not that big a deal and although I won't mind if I have to stay at AKV on every trip I do hope that I will be able to try all the other resorts VWL being on of them by booking at the 7 month window. Another determining factor is that we are a family of 5 and although I have heard that staying in a 1 bdrm doesn't seem to be a problem at this point at any of the resorts officially the 1 bdrms are only supposed to sleep 4 but the AKV 1 bdrms sleep 5 and have 2 bathrooms so that and the fact that AKV expires 15 years later than VWL sealed the deal.

Got the paperwork and they removed the $500 steve harvey credit- guide said he made a mistake in offering it (even though he sent it to me in writing). Im ticked off- but it helps me make the decision to look at resale.

Good luck in whatever you decide, however, I read on another thread of yours that you do have the offer in writing. If I were you I would push the issue. You have the offer in writing if your guide won't help ask to speak to someone else. Move up the chain of command, I'm sure they don't want to loose an entire sale over $500. If you push it I will bet they will wind up honoring their initial offer and you may even get some other incentive as well for your troubles. Just my 2 cents but I personally would speak to someone else.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. My guide has been very, very busy lately as I'm sure yours has as well. My points came through as well and I now have my membership number and my first reservation has been made!!!

P.S. I agree with the previous poster. If you have something in writing that states you were going to get $500 and now they are telling you no, then I would ask to speak with management.
