and, boy, am I out of shape. All of us went - the guys all have new sneaks to break in, and we all need the walking practice. I just thought it would be easier than it was.

We have about 4 wks to get ready, and I'm hoping to walk every night it's not raining and we don't have a commitment.

ARGH!!!

I think it's smart to be getting ready like that! I once read you can easily walk 12 miles during a day at the parks. Not to mention all the standing in line you'll be doing.
sheesh, that sounds so negative. It's absolutely worth it...Have a fantastic time!!!!

Good job - keep up the walks!

I am "in training" for Mickey too - I am on the treadmill at least 3x a week doing at least a mile - on top of that, walking with the children. I am glad I rented a double stroller from Orlando stroller - my 5 year old can't keep up with me!

Have a super trip! :)

Keep Walking! I was about 80 pounds overweight and totally out of shape the last trip we took. Started walking 30 minutes a day several days a week about 6 weeks before the trip and didn't have any trouble getting through the days.

Thanks for the encouragement. :-) Dh thinks I'm overdoing it a bit, but I want us to be ready. I don't hurt this am, so that is a good sign. Dh and I both need to lose about 40#, and this should kick start us as well as get us ready to walk the parks.

We planned on walking every night, but it has now rained for almost 2 weeks solid! I'm afraid that the heat will really get to us this year also. Normally, our weather & WDWs weather are similar heat wise. This year though, it's been cool & rainy for what seems like forever. I am actually hoping for a heat wave within the next 2 weeks so that our bodies have some time to adjust.

Keep it up. We went into training 6 months before our last Disney trip...As a result my 4 yr old did not need or want a Stroller and we all were perfectly fine and comfortable at days end...It does work:thumbsup2

It's a great sign that you don't have any aches this am.

And it's reassuring hearing from PP that walking ahead of trip really pays off.

Have a super trip!

Good for you, smart move.....both breaking in those sneakers and getting kiddo's (and mom) used to it ;) It will definitely come in handy and your stamina will be better.......BUT remember, you do not have to go commando like a crazy family every day all day and night (unless you want too :rotfl2:), SLOW down and ENJOY, so many people rush rush rush, and you'll miss the "magic feel"
with the exhaustian.....Have an AMAZING time with your family!!!! :wizard:
Lucky Lucky Lucky YOU!!!

Actually, we're planning to break in the middle of the day. Dh doesn't have much use for heat, so we're going early and breaking for lazy river time at the condo, then back to the parks. That also means I can cook and save on the crazy park prices for food. That means more Mickey ice creams instead of mediocre chicken nuggets, too.

But I know we will be doing a lot more walking than we are used to, and I want to make sure we're not going to be soaking our feet in the condo instead of out doing fun things. :-)
