Well looks like it's going to be coming down the pike. Chase just sent me a survey to complete (paid $10 ya hoo) about how likely I'd be to apply for a card with an annual fee. They had a bunch of differnent ones for me to look at ranging in fee's from $29-$125/yr. For me I wouldn't be interested in having this card with an annual fee attached. I figure if they're surveying about it, they must going to start doing it soon, since we've all been reading credit cards are going to start going that way anyway. Here's the description of one of the cards:

The Deluxe Disney Visa Signature Credit Card from Chase helps you experience the very best Disney has to offer with ways to earn more rewards than ever and access to Disney perks – just for being a cardmember.
The Deluxe Disney Visa Signature Card highlights:

I really hope they don't start charging an annual fee. I would have to cancel my card, and that's the only one I use.

Same here...would be canceling as soon as I got the notice. Guess I will use my other card to earn points to pay my timeshare maintenance fees.

I did the same survey. I replied I loved all the great perks but NO to ANYTHING involving a fee. Why would I pay a $125 year fee just to get a free park ticket? (that was just one of the many examples)...

It says "Deluxe"

It might be a new card they're thinking about putting out, and not touching the old one.

i just got an offer from them for a $200 disney giftcard for applying for a disney visa with no annual fee. you get the card after your first purchase. they better not charge me a fee.

I will cancel. We have a couple of cc with Chase. We only use one of them, but I will cancel all of them!

Annual fee = no more for me....

I completely agree. Sooooo I would have to spend $4,900 a year just to break even? :rolleyes1 Who WOULD keep the card?! There's a lot better rewards cards that don't offer annual fees (although they may all in the future).

I'm thinking one of my Citi cards is toying with the idea of charging an annual fee. I've had the card for years but just noticed on my last month's statement a new line added, where they show the finance charges and/or purchases, that says "Annual fee" and then $0.00. I wonder if they're getting their computer systems ready before they send out the letters.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. I often get these types of surveys from either hotel loyalty programs or other credit cards.

They're just testing the water to see what is most palatable for the card services being offered.

I'll bet in some cases you had an option to choose a different, non-disney card, or a fee free card.

Still, the Disney card is considered one of the worst reward cards out there. I have one, but only use it if they are offering me more than .01 per dollar. If they start charging a fee, it will get cancelled.

I did the same survey (or one like it with about 5 different options/fees)
3 months ago. Looks like they are still testing. :)

I hope they don't start an annual fee. From the looks of the list from the OP, it doesn't have that much more value than the current card.

I can't imagine Chase will actually start charging a fee on the card. If anything, they might stop offering their 5X promotions. Honestly, that would impact me more than an annual fee. I've been fortunate enough this year to have received 9 straight months of the promotion and have accumulated more than $500 reward dollars and still rising. I understand things are changing with credit card companies, but I'm fearful it will not be in the consumers' best interest--never is.

I already decided after the 5X promotion is over, I'm going to start using my DH's card where we get airline miles. A better deal than Disney's Visa actually. If they start charging an annual fee than I'll make sure I spend all my reward dollars and than cancel the card.

That was my thought. It sounds like this is a new "Deluxe" Disney card they are thinking of offering for a fee. There are perks listed that I don't get with the no-fee Disney Visa I have now.

The only way I'd pay a fee for a credit card is if the rewards I earn end up being worth more than the fee.

I would keep the card, mostly because of this:

Ready, set, REDEEM!

I earn atleast 500 reward dollars a year now so then I would get 2 $40 bonuses so as long as the fee wasn't more than $80/year I would break even. I don't think I'd pay more than a $50/ yr fee though. It would start to loose value for me. I LOVE my Disney card. :lovestruc I hope I don't have to give it up!
