If I book my vacation now & I get a PIN or FD offer comes around, can I call and have our reservation changed to reflect these discounts??
 
Yes you can IF that resort is available using the discount, there are only a certain amount of rooms allocated for certain discounts
 
Well it also depends on what you would be switching to.

If you were going from a regular room only reservation to a discounted room only reservation it's easy to apply the discount code to switch over your dates, so basically you keep the same confirmation number and don't need to pay another 1 night deposit.

However if you were switching from a room only reservation to Free Dining or any other specific package deal, you need to cancel your original reservation because it can't be turned into a package deal since both are on two different reservation systems and etc.

I had planned on booking a package, so from how I understand it, if FD came about, that would be an easy "upgrade" since I've already got the package.

What if I had a package, but a room-only discount came out? Would it be possible to apply the room-only discount to the package or would I have to discount the package and book a room-only reservation and purchase tickets separately? In that scenario, I wouldn't be able to add on a DP since it's a room-only discount & reservation??

You're welcome and like I said before when going from a package reservation to a room only reservation, you need to cancel the package reservation.

Reading comprehension FAIL. Sorry! I thought you had said that in reverse (going from room to package), but now that I think about it, that doesn't make sense since there aren't package discounts. D'oh.

Don't worry about it, sometimes it can get confusing when it comes to all the different reservation types that WDW has.

Just call Disney when/if the discount you're looking for comes out and THEY will cancel and rebook for you ! easy peasy ! :rotfl:
