Just thinking of DVC

Curious about the ages of people who have joined over the years at the DVC. Now, realizing that we all are young at heart what is the average age group of families joining? Also, are there any single DVC buyers out there?

Just to answer my own question and all of you know; we were in our 30s when we purchased:thewave:

We just bought into it... I am 27 and my husband is 26 :)

Passed ROFR on Monday and are looking forward to closing on a resale, our first DVC purchase.

I am 37, DW is 36, DS is 6 & DD is 2

There was a recent thread asking people what age they would be when the contracts expire at all resorts (except SSR) in 2042. There were people in all age groups! My husband and I are 51 and 52, respectively with a teenager, and just bought into DVC this year after making repeated trips to Disney. Our only regret is that we didn't buy in much sooner!

There was another thread recently that my husband and I found quite interesting. There seems to be a number of DVC members who are accumulating the points necessary to spend a fair number of weeks at DVC resorts upon retirment. Great idea!

I am 34, single (LTR) and recently became a DVC member earlier this year (resale - 370 pts @ OKW). My GF is not into Disney nearly as much as I but she enjoys the resorts atmosphere and Orlando's weather but she doesn't care for the crowds, rides, or the parks in general. I enjoy all that is Disney and have for quite some time. I have joked at times with her if she were only a true Disney fan how we would have been married by now just so I could do the Disney honeymoon package (and if your wondering, yes I pay for that statement each time it is said - thankfully she doesn’t use this board). My only regret is the same as most, having not bought this sooner as the amount of money spent on accommodations through out the years staying at moderate and deluxe resorts I could have doubled or tripled my points!!!

my hubby and I both bought when we were 26..we are 27 now!
No kids....just us and having a great time!

Oooh, interesting...26 seems to be the age (Fun to think we'll be retired and still be able to go to WDW)....I'm 26 and my DH is 28. My dad thinks I'm a little bit nuts and told me I'll be sick of seeing the mouse...I said "NEVER!"

We just faxed in our contract today and are waiting for ROFR.

We were 34 and 33 respectively when we bought in last year. I would have liked to have gotten in sooner but we had this short progression of things that had to happen first, most prominently building a new house. Once that was done, the planning for DVC started immediately. Next up on the list, a new vehicle that is more accommodating for our first child which should arrive late next month.

We just bought on our trip in Feb. After 4 trips in 14 months from Mass, we decided it made sense. My DH is 35 and I am 32. We have 2 preschoolers. Can't wait to make all of those wonderfull memories with the kids.

My 35th birthday present will be DVC in the next couple of weeks. My dh will be 37 soon. We've looked into it for about ten years but "life" came first for us - dh getting tenure, having our one and only, buying a house, buying a minivan. Now said kiddo is almost nine and we feel really fortunate to be in a position to finally buy. We've been to WDW several times although not for about the past three years (we did US/IOA in the interim). Our daughter has Asperger's and a host of other neurological difficulties so every trip with her will be special for a long time.

My DH and I toured in 95 with our three children, then high school and college age and we didn't think we could swing it. What a mistake. If we had used the money we have spent on vacations at Disney since then, we could have it paid for. Just bought SSR last November and have made one trip back since. Can't wait to start planning another. We enjoy going by ourselves and we like the option of having the room to invite our children and their spouses and our grandchild also. We love it no matter what our ages are.

We just bought at the end of our trip last month (should of bought before that though!). It was a very busy year... Getting Married, buying a house and then finally buying into a 2nd home at SSR! :hyper:

I just turned 27 and my DW is turing 25 in November.

I am actually really glad to see that there are several people our age who bought also! Everyone we talk to think we are nutz spending all that money up front the DVC. Its hard to talk to my family because they don't like "Timeshares", I guess Jim Baker and PTL kinda made them angry. I tried to explain about how this is Different than traditional timeshares.

For now its just my DW and I that are really excited about our purchase... But thats the important people, correct? ;)

That's right...actually my mom is really excited because it means she probably gets to go to WDW again too! Friends my age are excited about it too, they think it's great. I was so giddy the day we finally found what we wanted...we only bought 100 points for now...just right for us at this point.

Actually, I think it's a great move for you to have purchased into DVC at such a young age -- wish we'd been in a financial situation (and had the good foresight) to purchase at a much younger age than we did. You will certainly get your money's worth out of these points MANY times over during your lifetime.
