Hello,
I'm new and I have a question. Are here any people who are getting married or are married is Disney World with just the two of you?

We want to get married in Disney but we think that no-one wil come because of the distance.

You might be surprised. DF didn't think a lot of his Boston family would want to come to our Disneyland wedding, but we are getting a lot of positive feedback so far. Turns out people like having an excuse to go to Disney :goodvibes

A good idea I got from this board is to send out a newsletter to all potential guests and ask them to give a tentative RSVP. The only trouble with this plan is, once you send out the newsletters you are announcing to your friends and family that you are planning on having the "big" wedding.

I think the main question to ask yourself first is, do you want it to be a smaller wedding with just the two of you, or do you want the big wedding with all your friends and family? And what works best for your budget? :thumbsup2

OH, and welcome to the boards!!!

Thanks! I think our family is not into a wedding oversea. And we don't want our family have to pay a lot of money. I just saw a story about a couple who also married 'far away' but they took a webcame with them.
That sounds also as a good idea. We have our wedding for two and the family can see our wedding

Sounds like you've made up your mind then, eh? Where are you from?

My husband and I got married just the two of us at SBP and for us the day was perfect. Everything we hoped it would be and more. :cloud9: Everything was really relaxed and informal and so we could really concentrate on being us and celebrating our big day together.

If you are worried about missing friends and family or including them you could do what my lovely husband did and ask family and friends o make a little video wishing you luck. My husband arrange this as a surprise for me, which was wonderful! We also wanted to make sure our families got a chance to celebrate so we arranged for some surprise cakes to be delivered to their homes.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful day whatever you decide to do. Good luck! :flower3:

My fiance and I just booked our Disney wedding and it will just be the two of us.

Our family can not come due to financial reasons.

We were bummed at first, but now are excited about it being just the two of us. I think it will be a very special and personal day. We can't wait!!

Sometimes I certainly wish it was just the two of us!

Would certainly make for a lot less stress!

If that's what you want then go for it. If there's one thing this process has taught me it's that you can't make everyone happy. Your wedding day is the one day you should do just what the two of you want.

I have 20 people coming from the UK. I'm over the moon they are. But it hasn't been easy sometimes.

20 people from the UK? Very nice :) I come from the Netherlands so the distance is quite the same. I just don't think our families are going to Florida because of the costs and the flyinghours. I know that not everyone is going to be happy.

But this is what we want. I am from the moment I opened my eyes a Disneyfan:goodvibes Disneyland Paris doen't offer a Disney Wedding so that's why we ending up here :)

To be honest I didnt think anyone would travel to Florida (were from the UK) but we were actually surprised at how many people wanted to come!Admittedly only 9 can actually make it after all but were actually pleased its no more! But I'm sure a wedding with just the two of you will be lovely - very romatnic and you wont have to worry about pleasing other people!!x

When we know for a 100% that this is what we want, we are going to tell our parents en sisters what the plans are. If they want to come I would be very happy but if they don't I understand.

If we are back from our disneymoon we going te eat with our parents and sisters, because we want to do something with them for our wedding.

It's just us and our Mums for our wedding so no other guests. It has upset a few people but we decided it's our day and we want happy memories so we kept it small. We are having an at home reception back in teh UK afterwards.

I know that one of the videographers you can hire offers a weblink service so family at home can watch the ceremony as it happens. This might be something to think about if they cannot make it.

Hi, I've been reading the lurking for a while but thought it was about time I started posting!

We are planning on having an Escape wedding with just the two of us. We are Australian so the 40+ hour transit time and cost will make it impossible for any of our family or friends to come. We are going to let people know what we are planning and then have a reception when we get back home. We are really excited and think this will be perfect for us!

Does anybody know of any trip reports written by anybody who didn't have any guests? I would love to hear about how the day went..

Hi! It will just be us two on the big day. We live in Texas(so pretty close) and we decided we just wanted it to be us. Our families are HUGE and we just cant afford to have a big wedding. Plus, both of us are into low key, not very stressful. We even have a 12 month old son, so this still bothers me that he will not be going. But, we are planning to have a recpetion when we get home. The way we looked at it is that this is our day, and our Honeymoon. We would not invite family or our son on our Honeymoon.

@LaurenM: We talked about it this weekend and the same opinion as you discribe. What thought your family and parents about your plans?

@Lulu83: We have the same problems. The journey for is is about 12 hours. If you have found any day report please let me know :)

@Debb-We both come from divoriced and remarried again families so only half know right now. We are waiting until we can book (april 1st) to tell everyone. I can tell that my mom is hurt, but understands. My Dad, could care less. My opnion was that since he is not paying or even help paying for the wedding he had 23 years to plan for that he has no say.
My DF's mom and step dad are awesome, they would LOVE to go and want to go, but DF said no. They will be keeping our son for us. They were sad, and disapointed, but want to help plan a recpetion.

My sister I think was the saddest. We are very close and she wanted to be there.

stan at STVS does this - it's only a $75 US add on to one of their packages - we did just video of the ceremony and the webcast. it went off without a hitch - i know we had at least 50 family and friends view and noone had any problems - highly recommend it!

That's a great solution! Is this something you can choose as an extra?

Really? How much do This would be something that my family would love...any info?

So I think I might be becoming a little obsessed with Disney weddings (especially considering mine is more than a year away!) but I've been reading lots of trip reports/vendor reviews and stumbled across these two so far which might be helpful (I can't actually post links yet because my post count isn't high enough but hopefully if you search for the users you can find them!)

* Leonix8238 (just the bride and groom)

* Tiggerifficheidi (this is an Escape wedding with only one or two guests)

Enjoy! :cool1:
