Just the two of us...sitting at the bar?

Hi everyone, we're a couple of new empty-nesters heading down to WDW without the kids for the first time. We've heard that when it's just the two of you, you can go to some sit-down restaurants and sit at the bar for dinner and don't need an ADR. I'm wondering if anyone has luck with this plan? We do have a few ADR's for our favorites but thought the bar option was a great idea.

Yeah, I've done it numerous times...including Cali Grill just before Wishes.

So long as they are not packed to the rafters it shouldn't be a problem.

Just be aware some of the bars will not allow you to order the complete restaurant menu at the bar. You can only order from their menu. Most have a very nice selection of appetizers that can make a nice meal for a couple.

This is common at resort bars. If a restaurant has a bar (like Cali Grill or 50's Primetime) you can access the full menu at the bar.

We do this often -- but as others have said the full menu may not be available, but there are always apps that can make a good light meal.

It's how I would prefer to dine if solo or with one companion. ADRs can be such a pain.

How about a list of TS that have a bar that will serve the restaurant's dishes?

Citrico's
Jiko
Sanaa
50's
CG
The Wave

Any others?

You will have SUCH a fun time on your couple only trip!! We sit at the bars in the TS restaurants all the time. Sometimes I honestly prefer doing this rather than sitting at a table. I think meals can be incredibly rushed at WDW but if you sit at the bar they don't rush you along because there are a gazillion other parties they have to sit. A good portion of the restaurants will allow you to order from the full menu but a lot of times we will just share a few appetizers, have a few drinks and enjoy each other's company. The other nice thing about sitting at the bar is that you can experience more restaurants than you would if you have an actual ADR and ate a full meal. We like to restaurant hop and try some appetizers or split something light and have a drink at a few restaurants - this is especially easy to do at Disney Springs.

I am going with my grown step daughter for a girls only weekend next Saturday. We plan to go to Tambu Lounge next to Ohana to order pork sliders, chicken wings and bread pudding! YUM!

I am dying to try the Nomad Lounge as well! See the review recently done by the Disunplugged!

Nomad Lounge is my favorite bar/lounge on property. I've been there solo and actually had my meal there and went with my grown son and we sat at the bar (I sat in the chairs when there solo) and the bread service and actually didn't want to leave to go to our ADR at Tiffins we enjoyed it so much. Of course, Tiffins then became our favorite restaurant on site so there is that.

Thanks so much for all of your awesome replies - Nomad Lounge looks fantastic! Getting excited :-)

ps Hopefully we'll be wearing our SuperBowl championship t-shirts *bites fingernails* while there ;-)

Well, if you don't get to wear that t-shirt, wear the AFC champs t-shirt with pride! Have a great couple's trip!!!

Y'all will have a lovely time. I think it's more intimate in a way at the bar.

We like the lounge at Artist Point. We head over from MK. I'm pretty sure they offer the whole menu, I love the smoked portobello soup. The only down side was they don't give any AP discount there.

Haha, when I saw title I was sure I was going to hear a good joke ... :lmao:

That said, go for it. We have loved sitting at HBD "Lounge" with dining and drinks. Loved Nomad Lounge in AK for appetizers and drinks, no full menu. 50's Prime Tune In Lounge offers the full menu. We went to HOB where it was a 45 minute minimum wait but were seated right away at bar, full menu and great server.

Hope you could get your hands on some Super Bowl shirts!!!! The Pats helped you have a memorable trip, I'm sure! Woot woot!

You can order from the full menu in the bar/lounge area at Il Mulino. DH and I have dinner there at least twice every trip!

I am now on the hunt for Super Bowl Champ tees for our trip in a couple of weeks! :)
