We have provisionally booked 16 Dec for our WDW wedding, but I am just worried that as it may only be the two of us (family can't travel that far) will I regret not having my family and friends around me for the most important day of my life??

What has got me thinking is that I am off work today ill and I have been watching the wedding programmes on the Discovery Health channel and the brides look so happy with their families and friends, got a bit tearful to be honest.

My mum and dad say they might be able to make it depending on money but can't give me a definite yes or no.

Im just worried that it will be very lonely just the two of us so far from home. But then on the other hand Disney is our favourite place to be and we really want to get married there.

Has anyone else got married just the two of them?? I would really appreciate speaking to someone of you about this if you don't mind.

Can you have a small ceremony at home with family and friends before leaving, then do the Disney wedding too? Or, have the wedding at home and honeymoon at Disney?

I think a Disney wedding would be fun, but to me it wouldn't be worth it if at least my parents couldn't be there. If you really wish they were there, you may end up regretting it on your wedding day, and you shouldn't be sad at your wedding!

Good luck with your decision -- I hope everything works out for you!

We are getting married there by ourselves in a matter of days. I have the same situation. No friends, or family, but when I really think about it I'm sure I'll be happy. The ceremony is short. I think it will be somewhat romanctic seeing that the marriage is a joining of the 2 of you and you can focus on one another. After the short ceremony then you can enjoy being married and hit the parks, eat a great venues, and just be together.
When we get back, we will be having a small reception to celebrate with our families once we return. We can show all our pictures, etc... Even if some family members could come, not all could, so everyone can celebrate at the same time without certian family members feeling left out. Thats how I justified the whole thing to myself....does it make sense? :)

4orm, thanks for that and yes it does make sense.

We too are having a reception / party next March for our family and friends and are hoping to hire a video and screen so that the wedding can be shown first. I am going to wear my dress again as we are having some family photos done as well.

I think its probably just a case of nerves and a little cold feet which I know most people get. Disney has always been a special place for us and getting married there will make it even better.

Good luck for your big day!!
