Just stayed at AKV.....whoohoo!!!!!

I am not sure, but i don't think that walmart photo site allows for linking to photos. Maybe host copies on a site like www.photobucket.com. I am really looking forward to seeing your shots.

just to let you know still can't see them
did you copy the IMG code

SSR 1B: 714 sq ft
BCV 1B: 726 sq ft
BWV 1B: 712 sq ft
AKV Jambo House 1B: 629 to 710 sq ft

(Studios and 2Bs are similar to the above--AKV is on par with recent resorts)

The ones open now are all 710-ish. The 629 refers to the value rooms.

So, close to SSR and BWV in actual size, but with the use of the flat screens and no entertainment center, probably more "useable" space which is going to make them feel "bigger".

What's going to be interesting is to finally see the Kidani rooms, which are a shade larger AND will use the flat screens, etc.

Ah, yes. The things one can do with and extra 4 sq ft of space from waist-height to ceiling. :cloud9:

It's more than just the 4 sq ft waist to ceiling, though. The console below the TV's looks to be "thinner" than the average "entertainment center" I've seen. THAT'S the "space recovery" from the flat screens...which, you're right, isn't HUGE. But every sq ft counts...because it allows different arrangements that can radically effect useable space and, maybe more importantly, sight lines and perception of that space.

So how much more "useable" space would you say exists?

Thanks for the pictures! That does it I`m afraid, off to phone our guide - I can feel an add on in the air :goodvibes

No earthly clue....I've not seen any measurements posted and wouldn't hazzard a guess without being able to measure out fixtures. More than 4sq ft from waist to ceiling, though. It looks like they fit the armoire in to what was "left over" in the studio.....

Again, I agree...it's probably not much. But it's enough (and where it's being gotten from...the middle of the living space) to be noticed, obviously. I even notice it from the pics we've seen....though HOW noticeable it is I'll leave to those on site who've stayed at those resorts we're comparing to.

Dimensions and layout make a huge difference. The studio at SSR, for example, "feels" much bigger to me. There's a longer, but shorter entertainment cabinet that (psychologically at least) opens up the room. Also, if you take 2 inches from either side of the sink vanity and put four inches between the tub and toilet - it makes it feel like you have more space. Small tweaking of dimensions really can make a difference. I think the open sink vanity model makes it feel roomier as well. The flat screen does open up a room. Balcony dimensions can also really add to the percieved space. The difference of 2 square feet really can feel much different just based on room arrangement and furniture dimensions. This is probably much more noticable in studios where every foot counts and space needs to be used wisely.

Thanks for the report and pictures! We're now going to be spending part of our September stay at AKV, but unfortunately, at this late booking time, could only get a Friday and Saturday in a 2 BR. If anyone has 2 BR pictures we'd love to see them.

So it'll be 5 nights at BWV, 2 at AKV.

Exactly! When we toured the model it really stuck out to me how roomier it felt. The layout just seems better than any of the other studios I have been in.

I was just able to finish converting our reservation for February from SSR to AKV - Savannah view in a 2BR. We are all very excited about this.

We just did a small add-on at SSR, I am afraid this could be a problem when we spend a week enjoying the savannah at AKV.

Thanks for the pictures.

Thank you for posting...I've forwarded your comments to DH and DCuz, we're staying in studios at AKV in September!
