Just starting to plan our wedding at Disney

Hi, can anyone help me? We are just starting to plan our Disney wedding for 2009 and wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of any UK brides that have posted their experiences.

I'm wondering what they did about their dress, suits etc, how they found planning from the UK etc.

We would love to go to Epcot on the night as it is a very special place for us so we're trying to work out timings. If anyone can give me some essential do's and don'ts I'd be very grateful. It seems a bit daunting at the moment!

We're thinking of SBP followed by a light lunch somewhere and then Epcot for a meal. We're also considering the Illuminations Dessert party. We were thinking of the Gardenview Tea Room after SBP as we love the GF but don't want the Wedding Pavillion. There will be around 10-12 of us.

Any thoughts, ideas, experiences most welcome!!

congrats on starting to plan your wedding, i got married in november 2005 at the wedding pavilion. we went for dinner at chef mickeys after the wedding, then had a wishes cuise in the evening.

Hello from another UK bride! Congratulations first of all, you're going to have so much fun organising your Wedding at Disney. This site is amazing and if you need any help or advice just come on and ask, everyones so helpful.

I'm planning my wedding for next year. I originally had an escape booked cause there's only 15 of us inc me and DF. But we changed to a Wishes cause there's so much more choice. So far we have the Pavillion booked for ceremony, American Adventure Parlour Room at Epcot then on to a DP at Lower Uk. I can't wait there is far too much choice for what ever you want.

I've managed to sort out my dress so it's in my hand luggage, I've bought a travel bag and a vaccuum seal bag so I can fit it all in along with my tiara and veil so that I know that it's safe with me while I'm on the plane. I wasn't too happy putting my dress in the holdall. Do you know who your flying with? I'm going with first choice and they have one of the smallest hand luggage sizes but I stil managed to find a bag that was small enough.

For the guys suit we've bought tuxes from George at Asda for £35 which was a bargain! Seeing as in the UK most suit hirers charge you full price for rental plus either half the cost or a certain percentage p/day for the full two weeks It ended up that we would be paying a fortune for the suits and they were being hired. It does mean that they've always got a tux and they are really nice. We just needc to find cravats and waistcoats now.

I'm also a UK bride. We are also having a wishes wedding with a small guest count, at the moment we have 10 confirmed.

I'm going to have to put my dress in a suit case and pray that it gets there OK. We are also buying suits for the men as it was more cost effective.

We have only just sent our contract back to Disney so our planning has only just started.

I ahve my dresss orted and have booked our date with disney, we go on our planning session trip in feb.

Congratulations!!!! You are going to have so much fun.

I was a UK Disney Bride back in May 2007. we had an escape wedding. It was so perfect. I could not image it any other way. We got married in the wedding pavilion at 10am, the cake cutting over at GF for 11am. It was great. Then we hit downtown disney Fultons - which I don't recommend at all!! We did the MK photoshoot at 5:00am the morning of the wedding. I really think this is a must for any Disney Bride. The photos are amazing!!!

Everything was great to plan and I didn't have any stress with Disney. It all went really well and according to plan.

My dress went in the hold of the airplane. Much to my better judgement. I remember being so neavous when I was waiting in Sanford for our luggage. Typical the one with the dress was last out and we didn't see it till it was on the otherside of the luggage hall. I spotted it and made a run to get it. After lifting the suitcase off of the belt, I turned around and I lose my family which too ages to find at least I had my dress!

Hi there, thank you so much for your replies and congratulations to everyone who is either married or getting married!

We will probably be flying charter rather than schedule because we like the direct flight. I like the idea of a vacuum bag for the dress. I like the pick-up skirts so there will be a lot of material there! We want to keep it quite informal so the only people we will need suits for are my DBF and my dad - good tip about buying them rather than hiring.

We're having a problem deciding what time to do things. Can anyone tell me how long the pictures take after the ceremony? I've read it's about 1hr for the ceremony itself - does that include the cake cutting?

We'd like to do something like this:

Married at SBP at 1000
Light lunch at Gardenview Tea Room 1300
Evening meal at Epcot 1900
Fireworks

We fell in love with SBP when we were there in Sept/Oct and really liked the Grand Floridian so would like to go there for something to eat. Epcot is very special for us so we quite fancied a meal there followed by the fireworks.

Everyone would be starting at the Boardwalk (ie driving there) so we could ferry people to the GF and back again. People could then get changed in our room and my parents room at the Boardwalk, walk to Epcot and have some fun, have a meal and watch the fireworks. We could then go back to the Boardwalk afterwards to Jelly-rolls, and it also means that people are back where there cars are.

What do you think? Any thoughts appreciated! There will be approx 10 of us.

Also, can anyone tell me if there is a maximum number of people you can book at the Epcot restaurants? I read somewhere that they only sit large groups at the beginning of the timings or the end.

Hello....welcome.

What about a ceremony on the large GF balcony? It holds about 20 people, private, romantic, shaded and looks out over the water towards the Poly.

You could have a light lunch in GF Cafe or high tea at the GF.
Finish up your day with dinner in Epcot and an Illumination cruise!!!!!
