After our second successful point rental trip (last year at BCV) we agreed to 150 points at SSR. We had a great time last week. Crowds were not as bad as I anticipated the beginning of the week. We completed everything we wanted to do at MK on Tues. 12/23 by about 1pm. Of course with small kids, that excluded all the Mountains. However, we arrived at opening and did all of Fantasyland in about 1 hour and 15 min. No waits exceeded 10 minutes. We had already done Buzz twice on Monday and a couple of other MK attractions. But after lunch on Tuesday, we returned to our room and then went back to MK for Spectro and Wishes only that evening. Wishes was just remarkable. We viewed from the train station platform and enjoyed it very much.

By Wednesday evening at Epcot (we had CP at 5pm) Epcot was pretty thick. Thursday at Epcot was even worse which made me glad we got MK done by Tuesday and didn't have the need to return.

On Friday, our checkout day, we did the SSR tour at 9:30am and then went to lunch at Beaches and Cream on DVC. Zurg, Zurg's wife and all the little Zurg's were there also. Recognized them immediately.

While we had the van pulled up waiting for bell services to bring our luggage out, we had, what I believe to be, a Gary Sinise sighting in front of Boardwalk. It appeared to be him and 3 teenage children waiting for a cab, maybe. I may be wrong, but it sure looked like him. Does anyone know if he was staying at BW while doing the CP narration last week??

Anyway, we received our FedEx box early this week and have been debating back and forth whether to do this or not. We had hoped to buy a new house sometime this year and didn't want to hurt our chances of qualifying. Then we think, maybe don't get a new house and be paying mortgage when we're in our late 60's, but instead add on space to our kitchen and an office to our bedroom to our existing house.

UGHHHH, don't know what to do. My husband, who surprised the heck out of me, was the one who suggested we do the tour and the first one to say yes to our "guide". I'm the pragmatist and the reluctant one, but yet, the WDW addict.

Anyway, we'll be chewing on this decision for the next few days. Can anyone tell me if by agreeing to DVC and paying deposit, they have already run a credit report? Or not until we send in our paperwork and credit app will they do that? I'm trying to watch closely over our FICO score.

Anyway, nevertheless, we had a grand time and the room was wonderful. I must admit, I have WDW holiday out of my system. I don't think we'll ever do that again. It was just too stressful planning this trip and doing Christmas at the same time. We took presents, a tree and ornaments and it made for a much, much heavier load. This year, we never even got around to sending out our Christmas cards (sorry Moreno and Veloz families....Happy holidays to you all, anyway!)

Happy New Year to you all!

Sounds like you had a great trip! We just got back yesterday from 6 nights at BWV (we were at Hard Rock Hotel for the first 3 nights of our trip). I'm with you, it was nice to be there at Christmas once, but I don't think we'll do that again! Good luck in your decision on becoming DVC members!

Sounds like great trips Vicki and mouseclick......I agree about the stressfulness of going in December. We went for the first 2 weeks in Dec '98 and felt very unmotivated when we got back to do things at home. That year some friends/family didn't receive cards from us either. The house wasn't as decorated as I usually do it etc. The one good thing was we picked up alot of neat gifts for everyone in WDW so our holiday shopping was cut in half.
I would like to go again in Dec one day, but be more organized and disciplined about it. I would try to have alot more things done before we left for the "World".
Well, happy new year and thanks for the report Vicki !

We were also at BWV from 12/20-12/27 and had a great time. We joined DVC on our December 1999 trip to WDW and wonder why we didn't join sooner (we purchased 240 pts). We enjoy going to WDW over the Christmas holiday and staying at the BWV makes it that much better....lots of room to move around.

As far as Gary Sinese staying at Board Walk...yes he was staying there while he was at WDW narrate the Candlelight Processional. My husband saw him one day at Epcot walking through Canada...both made eye contact and Gary could tell my husband realized who he was...Gary just grinned and kept on walking.

Glad you had a great trip and hope you choose to be part of the DVC family!

DVC probably can't run your credit until they have the credit app. because they need something from you saying "it's okay to run my credit."

If you finance through Disney, your DVC loan will NOT appear on your credit report but you will have to disclose it if you apply for a new mortgage for your house, etc. because it will be a credit obligation. Your loan WILL appear on your credit report if you get behind or default.

Do what you think is best for you and your family. Your score might go down a few points when they check your credit but not enough to do any harm, IMHO.

Good luck.:D

Thats great news Vicki!! Keep us posted on your decision.

P.S. Going to the Final 4

Oops! We just applied for a mortgage on a new house 2 days ago and I forgot entirely to mention DVC. Our realtor called to say the offer was accepted and the sellers were anxious to move fast (they're going to San Antonio, BTW) and 2 hours later, I was applying for the mortgage. Didn't remember my name yet, I was in such shock! However, just wanted to tell you that now they don't even ask you anything hardly. She just got our SS#s and got into our credit report. And I can tell you from first hand experience that a DVC loan does not show up. Kind of ironic here in South Texas-I never even signed anything for the mortgage. So remember-a new house will probably not be affected by DVC.

I'm sure there are many times when people get by without disclosing their DVC. It is rather nice that it doesn't appear on credit reports.

Our mortgage broker told us we HAD to disclose it if we applied for a mortgage but that is only because he knew we had DVC.

Of course, you don't have to worry about it at all if it's paid off.

Just a few months and all of our points will be paid off. I can't wait.:D

Actually, you can have the best of both worlds, just go to WDW earlier in December to enjoy the decorations and festivities then and still have your Christmas at home. I bet come next year you will remember how pretty WDW was and wish you were seeing it again.

We've enjoyed a short Christmastime trip to WDW for 2 years now, and have one planned for this year. One special thing we did was take the time to visit other resorts to see the decorations, and I really liked Port Orleans, Riverside. That whole resort is a gem, and they had a beautiful Christmas tree.

Good luck in making your decision involving buying SSR! We took the boat from OKW to DD and decided we would love to try OKW and SSR someday.
