Hi,
My husband and I have just joined the DVC and cant wait to take our first trip. I just have 1 question for now. When disney puts out special offers like free dining or the addition of hopper or water parks to base tickets, do you still quailfy for these if you are staying on points?

Sorry, no. But we do get $100 off AP's and we can add the DDP without a package.

NO! The qualification for free dining is paying RACK RATE for the DISNEY hotels. DVC is a timeshare corporate entity. So, while part of the whole Disney umbrella, it is a totally seperate segment and not related to Disney hotel inventory other than when they take rooms as "trades" into the Disney collection from DVC members, or if DVC units are unbooked at 60 days out. You can stay in a DVC resort room and get free dining, but only if you are willing to pay the $250-$900 rack rate for the room size you desire.

Disney usually offers things like free dining to fill up the rooms when they normally would be unoccupied. So when kids are going back to school and hurricane season is in full bloom, not as many rooms are occupied. DVC doesn't need to do that because they are always occupied.
