Just got back home last night. Flew out for a few days for mom's birthday and to sign our papers. 240 points at VWL. That place is beautiful. Did a cash transaction. Plan to take the whole family down next June. Have a couple of questions for the experts.

1) Will want to stay in a studio the first 5 days while there are only 4 of us there. Will it be possible to get a studio, either view, at BW at that time? If so I guess I need to book this in November. Is this correct?

2) Will move to WLV fro the weekend before rest of the family arrives. When can I book this part of trip?

3) Will need a 2 bedroom and a studio once the family arrives, but are thinking about changing to all studios for the weekend. How big of a hassle will this be? Would we be better off just staying in the two bed?

4) How long does it take to close? Do you have to be closed to book or stay?

Thakns for all the advice,

Lori

If you signed your contract..you are in the system. give MS a call and start making your reservations.

You can book 11 months in advance of your departure date at VWL..all other DVC resorts 7 months in advance of your departure date. If you want, you can call day by day and keep moving back your departure date until you have your full vacation reserved. This is only necessary if your worried your traveling at peek season and rooms won't be available.

Personally, we hate packing up and moving every few days...we like getting to our resort and staying put. That's how we like to vacation... Others do enjoy moving about to try out the different resorts.

BWV has been difficult to book at the 7 month window, but the wait list seems to be coming through for most folks. Chances are you won't be able to get a standard view, buy may have luck with the preferred view stuidos.

Congratulations and welcome home!

We you signed, they probably gave you temporary membership cards. With that Member Number, you can call and make reservations inside your "windows".

We booked a studio at BWV four months out for our trip next week.

OK, unless things have changed there are some restrictions right now. First, if you paid cash that means you just got an allotment of points for this year (likely your use year started sometime in Spring -- like March?). You will also get another allotment in Spring of next year. Make sure your Sales Rep knows that you want to bank this year's points so you can use them for next June's trip. You may have filled out a banking form with your papers in which case banking will take place at closing but if you did not you want to make sure banking is done as part of closing. Though you can call now to make a ressie in June at VWL, you may not be able to use those points that you will bank yet meaning you may be restricted until closing to making ressies based on the allotment of points you get next year. Closing usually occurs about 30 days after you signed those papers.

You cannot reserve BWV until Nov and you may have some difficulty getting a studio. However, June is usually one of the easiest months to get (DVC does not follow Disney's overall "busy" patterns). Likely lower cost standard views will be gone but chance for preferred view.

If you get those three studios at VWL rather than 2BR and studio you will have less overall room and will not have the w/d or full kitchen that a 2BR provides. However, you will have more separation of personnel (some who bring whole families down consider the separation factor more important than the space factor--sometimes family members who don't see each other all the time can get into arguments when living together for several days in the same room, and yes I am speaking from experience). Note, you should reserve what you plan to have--you will not necessarily be able later (like shortly before going) to switch from a 2BR to 2 studios because whether you can get those studios would depend on whether any are available at time you try to reserve them.

I would suggest that as soon as you can you reserve everything at VWL to cover the entire trip (in other words a studio or other at VWL for the first 5 days and whatever you want for the weekend). Then, if you want BWV, try to switch in Nov. That way if you cannot get it you will have assured that you have a room at VWL. I am one who hates moving from one room to another so I will not advise on whether you should do it.
