Pirate Mickey

Guest
We just got back from the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. We took the whole family and had a blast.

There are some cool scenes with good subtle references to the ride and some not-so-subtle ones too. They are great for a laugh and a "hey, that's from the ride!" We heard several others nearby who obviously knew a great deal about the ride too.

I highly recommend this movie and not just because I'm Pirate Mickey....:smooth:

 Hey Pirate!

With a review like that who can resist :p Say.... do you have a cameo? ;)

DD just came in and asked if I could take her this evening, it's at the local theatre, So I'll be going tonight! :bounce:

I'll let you know how it goes.

I hope you enjoy it. There was a discussion on these boards a while back about the fact the Johnny Depp was playing a pirate. I think he steals the movie! Perfect casting!

I don't want to spoil it for you but the best part is when.....

Don't you just hate it when someone says this....?

Hahahaha Pirate, yes I do ;).

I think Johnny Depp looks like a great Pirate!

Just got back from the theatre and WOW, what a great movie! Johnny Depp MAKES this movie! It's a must see for a Disney fan!!!

They played the Haunted Mansion trailer and I must say that it doesn't look nearly as good as Pirates did on the trailer. But I will go see that one too!

We went today and loved it! Depp is great. All of the actors did a good job. Great movie!
As for the Haunted Mansion trailer, I think it will be good! Different but good.
=0)

LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!

I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone, so maybe people who have not see this movie should not read below.......but what are all the ride things you saw, and what were your favorite lines?

DON'T READ BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE ;)
I loved the yo-ho song
of course the dog and keys was so funny!!
the treasure room looked the same as the ride, anything else?
BUMP

We just got back from seeing PoC...

Hands down favorite line ...."Why the rum ?!?"

Cracked us all up.

We too heard many people in the theater commenting whenever a scene from the ride appeared....there are a lot of Disney World fanatics out there !!

Another note: My 9 year old DD had seen the previews and said she was definately NOT going to see this movie. We offered to get a sitter for her ..but since we're leaving for WDW Friday --she did not want to miss out on any pre-vacation fun. Well, she loved it !! She wants to buy the DVD the day it comes out. She thought the previews made it look a lot "scarier" than it actually was. We all thought it was much funnier than we expected it to be. And my DS, who is 7, loved it....of course he loved Hulk too......

It was fantastic !!!

I saw it twice today!!! That's right twice...went with the kids...hubby got jealous and I just got back from the second viewing.

Johnny Depp TOTALLY makes the movie! This is the first movie in a LONG time that I can't wait to see it in the theater again AND I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

First class family entertainment - film-makers should make more flicks like this.

Didn't care much for the Haunted Mansion preview. Won't be seeing that one.

Johnny Depp definately makes the movie. you have to love the way he walks & talks throughout the movie, I mean, "Maybe the lying man is telling the truth to lie about lying, but the man telling the truth could be lying about telling the truth" (or something to this effect) was a great line!

but... ....WHY THE RUM??? was the best!

I normally don't let me 8yo DD see PG-13 movies, but I'd love to make an exception on this one. Is there anything in the movie that she really shouldn't see or hear??

ok, I'm missing something?? I know I sound dumb, but where was the "why the rum?" and what does it mean?

Sounds like a fun movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it!

There's quite a bit of fighting (mostly with skeletons) and there is some death and blood. It's not remotely scary though IMO and nothing sexual except brief inference. I don't recall any bad language either so the issue would be the violence. But of course, with pirates around it's going to be violent.

DH and I both loved it! We'll be going back this weekend to see it again. :bounce:

DH and I both LOVED it! Johnny Depp was AMAZING! I didn't want it to end and I couldn't believe it was almost 2.5 hours long! Disney really did a good job with this one!

Haunted Mansion, on the other hand, I'm not too sure about :(

Thanks Planogirl! Sounds like maybe she can see this one. By the way, we lived in McKinney, Texas for years. Not too far from your neck of the woods! Still have lots of friends in Plano.

I just posted on the other POC thread, but if someone only reads this thread I wanted to say GO SEE IT NOW!! A+!! :bounce:

Why the rum? He said that after Elizabeth burned the rum for the signal on the deserted island. '

We also noticed the redhead ("we wants the red-head", our 2nd fave line from the ride) and the rather large brunette ("show 'em your larbored side").

Also the whole scene of the pirates from the Black Pearl invading Port Royale, there were a few scenes there from the movie, the men & women chasing each other, the fires in the window etc.

And when he found his friend sleeping with the pigs, that was from the ride as well.

They also showed somewhere in the movie (can't remember where?) a skeleton (not the cursed ones) in some sand clutching for some treasure and then I think you also saw Captain Barbosa or another cursed pirate steering the ship during the storm (a scene at the beginning of the ride)

Oh and one of my faves, the parrot saying "dead men tell no tales"

I wore my POC t-shirt to the movie and it has that line on the back of the shirt!
