Just saw on CNN!!!

Going next weekend & not worrying about it. I was however waiting for a thread like this to appear..............

I wouldn't worry.

I was vacationing in Florida on and around the 9/11 date.

We were there two days before and flew home the following weekend.
Many people were scared but keeping a clear head and being aware
of your surroundings is all
you need to do.

Enjoy your trip.

This.

Let me be blunt. If people change their plans, alter their way of life, because of terrorist threats....their mission has been accomplished. That's their goal...disrupt who we are, what we do, how we do things, by fear of violence.

The chances of being part of such an event are so infinitesimally small. You've got a (statistically) much better chance of being involved in some sort transportation incident causing injury or fatalities than an attack.

Relax, go about your business and life. Let the people who get paid to worry about it and stop that stuff do their job, you be you. :)

I thought about it for a about 3-4 seconds. But, I refuse to give terrorist what they want. I will live my life as I see fit and enjoy my life to the fullest And, I am going to make sure my family has the time of their life in Disney.:thumbsup2

First of all, when your number is up, it is up.

Second, in the past couple of weeks there have been at least FOUR fatalities caused by drunk drivers around here (3 going the wrong direction, 1 slamming into the back of another car at a light going 90 mph).

So, from where I am sitting, I am MUCH more likely to be slaughtered by a drunk driver than a terrorist.

I'm going to WDW next month for 15 nights, and I am not going to worry about it.

We are leaving in 10 days and I am worried. I wasn't until they killed you-know-who, but I am now. All of the sudden I find myself wishing our trip was a little later.

we went right after the 9/11 terrorist attacks as our packages were prepaid and didnt want to lose $$. we also thought it wouldnt be very crowded.
it was super crowded.
just dont think about it. you will be just fine.

We went a month after 9/11 and it was the slowest/emptiest we've EVER seen. A 10 day trip in all 4 parks plus water park. No crowds anywhere at any time.

I had originally planned to go with a friend and her kids but she and her husband were both too afraid after 9/11 so she backed out of the trip. Disney came out with a pretty great AP discount and so my sister went with me. It was the only time we could afford to stay at the GF and it was amazing. Our only upgrade to an awesome room too. The pools were empty, it was like we had the place to ourselves - we hardly saw anyone at our resort and it was super easy to eat at all the restaurants. Not even close to busy.

What were your dates? We were the end of Oct.

Anyhow, back to the original topic. Based on the experience we had, I personally would not hesitate to go.

I think of Disney World as a terrorist threat as a joke. Really, seriously, think about it. I've been there when it's pouring rain on Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom has pure sunshine. Disney World is HUGE!

And I really hate to say it but the Trade Center went down in Manhattan but most of the rest of the area went on. And Disney World in area is twice the size of Manhattan.

I am by no means demeaning a terrorist threat. If one exists, we all should be aware. However, this is not a time to be concerned. Heck - I live in Atlanta and we had roads closed down for weeks after 9/11. I'll live with that. But I won't live with the "threat" of anything. To me, that means defeat.

In my line of thinking I thinking the next few months would not be likely for an attack. It would take them a while to organize something. But, like the previous posters said, it would be much more likely to die from an car accident or something else than a terrorist attack. Don't let the terrorist win, don't be afraid. Enjoy your vacation.;)

WDW has been considered a top terrorist target for decades. I started working there in 1987 and this was mentioned in training back then. It's nothing new.

Not trying to fan any flames (as I said in PP I wouldn't hesitate to go to WDW) however, there are other methods besides airplanes. In the past there has been discussion about air or waterborne contaminants which can spread over large areas/cities, etc. I don't know how probable that may be but still possible.

relax, given recent events security may be a little tighter....

like everyone else has said carry on with your plans, better to do this than stay at home living in fear - thats no way to live.

yes theres a threat of terror there has been for years it's just more highlighted at the minute. I'm going WDW in october and it makes me nervous but I'm still going!

If I were to worry, which I'm not, I'd do so more if your trip were later because the government is on high alert and watching things/people/events more carefully at the moment. Las Vegas, Orlando, and NYC have always been targets and will always be targets. The world is no safer now, it's just that one bit of evil was disposed of.

Enjoy life. It's short.

We were at Universal right after 9/11. Talk about empty, everything was a walk-on!

I must admit I am nervous before every trip, and would be nervous if I was going now...but I still keep going!

Actually now might be safer than later this year...planning time you know. :rolleyes1

In all honesty, I think I would feel the most safe now and in the upcoming weeks because security will be on highest alert. I'm way more nervous about a few months from now when the potential retaliators have waited until 'we' let our guards down a bit, and they have had time to get their plans together. :confused3 JMO...

Also, what other pps said, something bad is more likely to happen in our everyday lives and we can't live in fear and all that business...

Do your best to put it out of your mind and have a wonderful trip :flower3:

I am going to NYC, Wash Dc and Orlando in the next 3 months and am not worried at all

I'm a worry wart about everything. We are going in 10 days and yeah, I've thought about the terrorist factor BUT really, this is my first trip and I'm not going to let anything ruin it. If something happens (heaven forbid), I will die at the happiest place on earth. At least I'll be happy. Try to enjoy yourself :)

Ah cheers :lmao:

I'm a nervous flyer as it is.... I'm going to be fun to travel with in october ;)
