Just Saw My First Commercial for "Willy Wonka"

I'm really excited to see the movie! I have seen the preview twice now at the theater. It was before Miss Congineality 2 and something else which I can't remember it looks great.

They showed the preview before the movie Robots too...it did look very strange!!

Something I never realized before is that the 1971 movie is titled Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory while the book and the 2005 movie are titled Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. I wonder why the first movie didn't have the exact title of the book. Hmm. I also recently read that Dahl wasn't pleased with the 1971 movie.

I'm going to venture a guess with this. They changed the name to highlight Wonka..because they also began marketing Wonka bars when the first movie came out.

Tim Burton has a great visual style so I'm sure it will be interesting to watch. Johnny Depp does look weird but you can't have all the Moms in the audience lusting after Willy Wonka! Does anyone know if it will be a musical like the original movie?

Johnny Depp doesn't even look like Johnny Depp. This movie looks just as dark and weird as the first. Can't wait to see it.

The original Willy Wonka is one of my favorites. I am a huge Roald Dahl fan. We saw the preview of WW2005 before Robots and my 6 year old informed me he didn't want to see it. I'm absolutly heartbroken.

I can't wait to see it. I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. The little boy who plays Charlie was so terrific in Finding Neverland. I don't see how it can miss.

I saw the trailer from the website. The song is awful. All I can think is, my God what have they done?!

I agree 100%. I also do not like the way they made Wonka look. Johnny looks too creepy (borderline pedophile, instead of just kooky LOL!). I doubt I will see this one and just watch the original.

Oh yeah, I bet you're right! Go figure, I have a degree in marketing and didn't think of that. It's all about the marketing.

The original Willy Wonka always freaked me out as a kid, so who better than Tim Burton to do a remake? I thought Gene Wilder was creepy as WW.

I saw the trailer and was kinda wigged out by it (especially the music) ...it really looks dark. I do love JD though, so I will definitely see it.

Tinkbell, I also thought GW was creepy in the original. But WW was supposed to be highly eccentric, so JD is probably a really good choice.
