Just back from a wonderful week from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3. Will answer any questions as so many on this board and others were helpful for us. Our family of 6 took a cost-savings approach by staying in a 3 bdrm timeshare (TUG2) for $500/week, got some good prices on 5 day hoppers, Q+C meal vouchers, grocery store meals and lots of carried in snacks for the parks. Even bought a camcorder on Ebay just for the trip which I am now reselling (at a slight profit:)

I would love to hear where you spent your vouchers. Do you feel like you got your money's worth?

I have a few vouchers for our upcoming trip and I always love to hear how people maximized their use.

Thanks and have a great night!

I am going to Disney for the first time and I also do not know if I should be buying vouchers. I am a family of five.

Any advice would be appreciated.

momoftwins - I saw your location . I live in North Attleboro, too!

We were trying the vouchers for the first time as we had read quite a bit of good posts in various places on the board. I purchased ours through the disauctions for about $12 each to avoid any of the membership issues. Anyway, we went to Beaches and Cream one afternoon at about 3:30 for our first try. This was also an opportunity to park at the Beach Club resort and then walk into Epcot via the International Gateway entrance and avoid the mobs leaving the park after Illuminations through the main entrance. Beaches is a sit-down restaurant with limited seating so you will likely have to put your name on a waiting list and get the beeper thing. It wasn't a long wait so we wandered around the resort. They have a somewhat limited selection of main courses (Hamburgers, Chicken sandwiches...lunch type stuff) They have a Prime Rib sandwich which has received good reviews here, but they were out of it when we went. Another post elsewhere mentioned that they may discontinue this as they are losing money. We got Hamburgers and Chicken, onion rings, soft drinks and HUGE sundaes for dessert. It was definitely worth it. The waiter was very helpful in telling us what we could get. We only used 3 vouchers for 6 people (2 adult, 4 kids)
Later, we visited the Pepper Market at the Coronado Springs Resort. PM was better for food with a wide selection and nicer, bigger eating area. Both were a great value with the vouchers. At Beaches, we got some extra drinks and had a separate bill for those. At Pepper Market, we just got the exact items on the vouchers and walked out without paying a cent. Very friendly in both places. Sorry I can't give you more experiences. All the places you can use the vouchers are listed on them, but many of the places, especially in the parks, are pretty lame in the selection to really get your money's worth. Hope that helped!

I just sent you a pm. Thank you NYTeacher for your reply. I know that the PM and Beaches and Cream are must do's. I can't wait.

Have a great night.

Hello,

I am going to Disney on the 23rd with my 8 yr old Son. We are going for a long weekend and want to try and fit as much in as we can. Please tell me what you suggest. We are staying in Disney at the all star sports resort. We arrive at 3:30 and need to know what to do that night. HELP !!! Also do they have anything less then the 4 day hopper pass since we are only there for 2 1/2 days? What is the weather going to be like ? What should I pack for cloths? I need lots of help.

PS> I am 3 months pregnant too.

Nicole

Wow! That sounds great. Staying at the All Star is a big plus for a short time as you can use Disney transport and get more of the Disney atmosphere. You can get 3 day hoppers linked with your resort reservations. I have copied some info off of the Mousesavers site here...

@@Ultimate Park Hopper passes are available exclusively to resort guests staying on-site at the official Disney resorts. The advance purchase price applies when you add the UPH passes to your hotel room reservation prior to arrival. You can also purchase these passes at check-in, at a higher price.

2 nights/3 days (price at resort) - $180.00 Adults (10 and older); $144.85 Children (3-9)
2 nights/3 days (advance purchase price) - $164.01 Adults (10 and older); $131.00 Children (3-9)@@

Though we didn't use them, the Ultimate Hoppers should be more convenient than the regular hoppers we used as I believe they are connected to your resort ID. (Less to worry about)
There are other options for tickets like through tickets brokers or Ebay if you are bold. We averaged $45 a day (adult) and about $35 (child) through some discounted Ebay tickets. We went to MK most mornings early and went to all the popular rides with no wait whatsoever then stayed for the parade and took off to one of the other parks. MK later in the day will be crowded. Hope that helps. Any more questions are welcome!

Sorry. I forgot to include anything about weather at that time. We had perfect weather for New Year's week with 70's during the day and 50's at night. It is cooling down presently, but the weather is very changable this time of year. You should definitely plan on warm jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc... as well as rain ponchos to be on the safe side. Once you hit 15 days before your trip, you can start keeping track of the weather forecast through the following link:

We also bought cheap, disposable pocket hand warmers in the hunting section of Wal-Mart for those cold evenings in the parks.
