Our family of 5 just returned from 6 days at WDW...had a fabulous time! Stayed at the Hilton in DTD and wanted to post my comments.

The Hotel is rated by Mobile and AAA as a four star/four diamond property, and has maintained this level for several years. This is very much a high end, deluxe quality hotel. I have stayed at Disney moderates in the past and MUCH prefer the Hilton. The Hilton is on the level of a Disney Deluxe Resort but is probably priced more in line with the Disney moderate properties.

All rooms are interior corridor and very upscale.....great linens, beds, bath amenities, wonderful room decor. We happened to stay on the Concierge level and loved the extra amenities for the breakfast and day-long snacks. Would have enjoyed the room even if we were not on the Concierge level. The hotel does have what they term a "family suite". This is a junior suite....essentially an oversized room with either a king bed or two double beds and sitting area with a sofa that folds out into a double bed. Would definitely work for a family of five. We happened to have a King Junior Suite (King bed with a sofa that folds out) plus an attached bedroom with 2 double beds. It was one of the nicest hotels in which we stayed. I would rate this on par with the Hard Rock Hotel or Portofino at Universal.

We did NOT use their park bus transportation as we like to have our own car. If transportation is important, you might want to reconsider. The park transportation stops at many other hotels before heading to the theme parks. The Disney moderate resorts have better transportation - but the Hilton is tops in all other amenities in my opinion.

We loved the location and the high end feel of the property. Does not have the "Disney-theming" of the Disney moderates like Port Orleans, but that was not important to us.....a high quality property was important. We will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to all.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Sounds great! I've been toying with the idea of staying there, as we're HHonors members...do they still have a Benihana on the property?

Yes, there is still a Benihana's Japanese Steakhouse on the first level. There is also an ice cream store, an upscale convenience market, a Disney Store gift shop, and several other restaurants. We did not eat at Benihana's or the restaurants at the Hilton. Again, we thoroughly enjoyed this property...it was a wonderful place to "come home to" at the end of each day!

How is the Hilton for children? We have a 5 yr old DS. Some reviews mention that the Hilton is good for adults only trips

Thanks for the review! We will be staying there for the first 3 nights of our December vacation!!!

Magalex,

I think the hotel is fabulous for any age, but I am not sure there is any "entertainment value" that would satisfy a 5 year old. It probably is a hotel for older kids or adults.

We also have stayed at the Hilton in DTD on the concierge level and was very pleased. When we checked in the staff was very welcoming to our children and gave them goodie bags. I don't recall if they had childrens activities. I know they had babysitting service and there was video games for the children to play.

We just got back from the Hilton at Downtown Disney. We spent one night there and thought it was great. We are also Hilton Honors Gold members so were able to use the concierge level. They had cookies and the soda fountain available all day as well as a nice breakfast buffet the next morning. We also took advantage of the hors d'eouvres in the evening. We really enjoyed the 2 swimming pools that afternoon which were beautiful and offered "cabana-style" pool chairs. (They had a sunshade built in.) Also, there's an arcade room near the pool area, but we didn't go in. We needed our airplane boarding passes and we had the choice of using the business desk ($1.00 per page for printing) or using the "internet room" and paying for it that way by the minute. We found the Hilton to be friendly, enjoyable, luxurious, and convenient to Downtown Disney. We paid $99 for that night and thought it was a great value. We would definitely stay there again.

Has anyone use the bus system personally? Any reviews on the transportation?

Thanks for the other replies/opinions too :)

I'd be interested in knowing as well. We'lll be there in November for 7 nights.
