We just returned from a trip to CA. Although we grew up there and went to Disneyland many times it has been some time since we have been there also it was our first trip to DCA. It was quite funny as we walked down mainstreet my husband asked if the castle was being refurbished. He thought most of it was missing as in torn down or something. Guess this has to do with our more recent visits to WDW and the difference in size. We were so disappointed with the crowds forming at 5pm waiting for Fantasmic. It was very hard to move around in this area and keep our party together. Cant imagine if we had strollers or wheel chairs. We really appreciate the way WDW does Fantasmic with its own stadium. We understand that Disneyland doesnt have the space for that but some better crowd control is needed. The new easy enter and exit parking structure was helpful.
As for DCA we had a great time there. It was far less crowded and easy to move around. Soarin was the best Disney experience ever. I also had the best hamburger at the place right next to soarin. It had steak sauce and bleu cheese crumbles mmmmm. My son also loved the happy face potatoes they had there. The rides in Fliks were perfect for the little ones. The roller coaster was top notch. My only wish for DCA is more rides which Im sure will be in their future. Also the Hollywood section was pretty dead with things being closed. All in all we had a great trip. Now looking forward to my WDW trip in Feb.

You can buy happy face potatos in grocery stores now. They are called Potato Smiles and are in a blue plastic bag next to the french fries. My children love them too! (Not sure if they are the exact thing you had....these are round, crispy on the outside, smiling potato things.)

Glad the trip was good. I agree that Soaring is the most interesting attraction Disney has come up with. How do they think of these things???

Perhaps the thing I dislike about Disneyland the most. Okay, no perhaps about it. This is my worst Disneyland nightmare come true.

I wish that Disney would not permit people to stake out walkway space more than an hour or so in advance. I saw people just leaving blankets and things unattended to "save" their space. This would end if Disney just collected the items and put them in lost and found. Aren't unattended items a threat?
