We just got back from an 8 day stay, and here are a few opinions of some of the restaurants we frequented. We used the MYW plan, which we found to be a tremendous bargain.
Kona Cafe (dinner) fantastic. Our party of 4 had three different dishes, all of which were excellent. Personally, had crab cake appetizer, Filet Mignon, and Caramel banana creme brule, all of which were to die for. Waiter talked us into adding shrimp to all our meals (bigger gratuity on the MYW plan). The deserts are unbelievable--my 17 yr. old daughter is still raving about her "Volcano". Great service. (Bill was $221.00--plan really pays off here!
Boma (dinner): Our first visit to Boma, and we all enjoyed it, but not as much as we thought we might from reading the rave reviews on this board. We're not big buffet fans, and, even if some of the foods are exotic, its still a buffet, although the desserts are noteworthy. It's the kind of place you should try at least once, but for us it's not a highlight.
Rose and Crown (dinner): We really enjoyed the R&C, and had a patio seating for Illuminations, which was breathtaking. Really, they could have fed me shredded newspaper, and I would have gladly eaten it to have the table we had for the fireworks! But the food was pretty good. Fruit and Cheese Plate appetizer was just right. I had "Cottage Pie" which was OK. Others in our party had fish and chips, and chicken, and all were satisfactory.
Concourse Steakhouse (dinner): Had some excellent steaks at the Concourse, but service could have been better. Started with shrimp cocktail, then a NY sirloin, and creme brulee. We like this restaurant from past visits, but not one of our most memorable this year. The server can make so much difference in the dining experience. (Bill was $195--another big value on the plan.)
Mama Melroses (lunch): This was the most pleasant surprise of the whole trip. We went in expecting little, and were wowed by the food. The appetizers were delicious. The bruschetta with marinated tomatoes, as well as the Mozzarella Tomatoes were memorable. I had the Tuscan Chicken bruschetta entree, which was very good. All of our party left this restaurant with high praise.
Donald's Breakfastosaurus: We do this every year, and it is still fun. We had an 8AM PS this year, and were very disappointed that they roped off the restaurant area, and would not let us return to the "tree" area for the park opening ceremony after breakfast. We were stuck in a very small area, and could not even get fast passes. This will impact our decision to return again.
Food was OK, and character interaction was good.
OHana (dinner): Ok, here we go. Hang me from the highest pillar! This place was terrible. We had a 7 PM PS, but were not seated until 8:10. Yes, it is a beautiful atmosphere, and the view is breathtaking. Downhill from there. The service went from being poor (we sat ignored for 20 minutes) to being downright rude. (Plates were snatched from the table with no comment, and servers acted like we were an imposition). The appetizers were all right, but the meat was completely dried out, and, as one of our group noted, tasted like old socks. The shrimp is unpeeled, and again very dry and not worth the effort to strip off the shells. This is our 2nd time at this place--we went a few years ago, with the same results, but decided to give it another chance. I realize that it is sacriledge to dispair OHana's, so line up the firing squad, but never again.
Sci Fi Cafe (dinner): We had fun at the Sci Fi. The food is just passable, but you really don't go there for the food. Another long wait--PS was at 6PM, and we didn't get seated until a little after 7.
For counter service, we went to Casey's, Cosmic Rays, Tusker House, Columbia Harbour House, Electric Umbrella, and the POR food court. Columbia Harbour House and Tusker were very good, as was the roasted chicken at Cosmics. The Electric Umbrella was terrible, and we had issues with the POR food court, which we nicknamed "IZAZOO".
All in all a good trip. We ate too much with the plan, and if we do it again, we will plan fewer table service dinners, and more lunches that don't require PS.

We like to hear them all.
!!! Now I am wondering if we should change our PS's from Ohana's to Kona
??? We have never been to either one and were looking forward to this, now I am nervous we are going to be having a not so magical experience!!!
