Thankfully I had anticipated the bad weather, and packed a little of everything. the weather turned out to be much worse than the forecast. Still we had a GREAT time!! The silk underwear, polartec gloves and socks, fleece hat and sweater , raincoat and poncho were all much used. Never wore the bathing suit , shorts or tank top.

I will give a full detailed trip report on the trip report board, but thought I'd throw out a few of the quick high and lows.

The highs... DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE! had the confirmation email, it worked perfectly to eat and to valet park THANKS DISBOARDS!!!! Also, activated AP at the guest relations at downtown disney, very fast

Thursday. .magic kingdom...perfect weather in the low 70's party cloudy, and not much in the way of crowds. we used fast pass, but none of the waits were more than 10 or 15 min. it just worked into our plan to fast pass.
Wishes fireworks...tremendous!! we started out at the sleepy hollow snack place got our funnel cake there, and watched
Spectromagic, a great viewing spot. we stayed to watch wishes, but couldn't see a thing, moved quickly to the road beside the liberty bell, and was perfect viewing, the best I'd ever seen. Of course, you don't get to see the castle, but the fireworks were so low, and to the side, they were going over the haunted mansion. It was extremely windy that night, so I don't know if it is always that way now.

Lows at MK
Tony's for lunch..this was the longest wait we had, and we had PS. the server was slow and unfriendly, the food was just ok. I wish we had eaten a snack, and gone to Ohana's after the park closed. Tony's is an annual tradition for us, but I won't go back.It wasn't bad, just slow and nothing special.
the birds were very aggresive especially the gulls, Saw them knock an ice cream cone right out of a woman's hand!

Friday, Severe thunderstorm and 3 inches of rain!
After a great breakfast, we were on our way to MGM .While stopped at the median to turn, a truck hydroplaned while taking a turn to fast and hit us in our rental car , broadside.....no one was hurt, but it took the police 3 hours to get to us, and another hour filling out all the paperwork.. went back to the hotel to regroup didn't get to MGM till 3pm. Still managed to get ina lot at mgm. Because of the time, we grabbed a quick bite at 50;s prime time( the chicken soup hit the spot) Fast pass was not working for TOT, so we did a few other things, got on TOT almost at closing. Ate dinner at Brown Derby right at closing ( Cobb salad was great. loved the crab cake and grapefruit cake. ) ask the server for the recipe, If you want it, i left mine in the booth,.

left there in time to get to Epcot for a pastry for the am and see Illuminations. Great spot in front of Morrocco.

Sat.
Went to Epcot at opening, parked in the front row, did test track twice stayed for lunch ate fish and chips at the snack shop, didn't like it. but we were in a hurry it was drizzly and chilly
took the monorail to MK to meet up with sister and fiancee.
It was CROWDED! As bad as I have ever seen it the summer. Thank goodness for fast pass
Green wall was bad, around the castle but worse in fantasy land. Luckily, thanks to disboards I was prepared, and didn't think it was as bad as I had imagined.
We left at 5 for our PS at Boma's at 6

BOMA"S.. oh my gosh, I was a little worried it would be too exotic for us, but we loved it. the carrot ginger soup( iwent back 3 times for that) was fantastic, as were all the soups. The prime rib and pork ribs were also great.
It ranks up there with Ohana's for me ..the dh still prefers ohana's but I have to say Boma's is now my favorite. Excellent server( the friends we were with had a different server that was not good)

Rode the bus back to MK, we had picked up fast pass for space mtn before earlier in the day, it was 30 min. expired, but we tried it anyway, they let us on, in and out in 10 min.!!
Went to haunted mansion while first spectro parade was going on, walked right on, came out in time for funnel cake and WIshes, again by liberty bell. it was very strange, due to low clouds, it was like looking through gauze, but still teriffic. Watched 1100 pm spectro from main street station steps, no one in front and whipped right onto the monorail to epcot to pick up the car. That was a great find!! /we checked with guest relations at epcot before we left there. to make sure we could get back.

Sunday, drove to
AKL, valet park thanks to DDE. Boma's for buffet breakfast which was Great!
to ak when it opened. again, rainy cold and windy, but got to do everything we planned
loved lion king show and flights of wonder.

We tried the pressed Kenyan coffee at Boma's , it was way too strong for me, but you Starbucks folks would probably love it. I poured about half coffee half cream and 5 sugars before I could drink it. Needless to say, we had no trouble staying up till 1 am that night! Other good coffee we had was at the kiosk in Epcot, also the cappucino at
Sleepy hollow I thought was good, of course, I was cold and wet!

I grew up in Ocala and have been to WDW many times, but this was the first without children. It was wonderful! The magic is just something that is always there.

Don't know if the crowds were due to MLK holiday or the largest convention in Orlando's history, but I won't go back on MLK again. My inlaws go every year last week in Jan,. and have never had a crowd issue.

Any questions I'll be glad to help out if I can.
Can't emphasize fast pass enough!!!!!!!! Also the Disney Dining experience card if you are an annual pass holder,

Hi there
Sorry the weather was weird for you. It still sounds like you had a great time. Glad you guys were not hurt iin the accident. Pixie dust works again.
Question:
"Green wall was bad, around th"e castle but worse in fantasy land." what was worse in Fantasyland?

Also, do you get free valet with DDE?

Thanks for the report! I'm sorry about your car accident, glad it wasn't bad though. We've got our DDE email ready, glad to hear it worked well. We're eating at Boma for breakfast, sounds like it will be great! :) I'm curious what you meant about the green walls in Fantasyland as well, you mean at IASW, Dumbo and where 20,000 Leagues was?

the green wall in fantasy land was around dumbo, in front of its a small world and down the length of the old 20,000 leagues.
It really isn't terrible if you are aware that it will be there.

I heard alot of people very there complaining because all those rides were down and about the wall. Knowing ahead of time really helps.

the free valet parking was with the DDE. just tipped. saved us $6. free parking at the parks with the AP

Wow! That was pretty detailed for some quick "highs and lows".
Now I can't wait for your trip report!

wow, I didn't know that DDE gives you free valet parking. We always valet park the entire time we are there staying at the Poly. I wonder if the free valet parking would be OK for the entire time we are there? That would save us the cost of the DDE right there, even if we never used it at a restuarant! LOL

Great report. I'm heding down next month and you have me all excited about the funnel cakes. Yum!!!! :earboy2:

I love funnel cakes, the only place I found them was at the sleepy hollow at MK., and they were fantastic!! was told by a cm that there was a place in toontown, but we never found one, looked in AK, never found one. didn't have time( or room for one) at epcot or mgm.
Maybe someone else knows where else they may be frying them up!

We were in Disney this past summer and they had funnel cakes at the place in the American Adventure at Epcot. They were good too! :D

We were there for the 3" of rain. What a mess! NOT a good day for AK. I'm glad you all had fun in spite of the weather and the car accident! We had fun, too. I want to go back and spend more time - 4 days wasn't enough to see and do everything we wanted to do, especially with the crummy weather! :D

Just posted on another thread... this stand was closed when we were there Marathon weekend and someone else has posted that it was converted into a snow cone stand.

No! Say it ain't so! The funnel cake stand in Epcot was a tradition for us. :(
How sad.

Thanks for the highs-lows of your trip. Great reading! :)
I never knew MK had funnel cakes. That's nice to know.

Tink *the funnel cake fairy* ;)
