Hello fellow DIS memers
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around at all over the past week and a half. The first reason is great: The band I play in finally finished our first album and did a little tour of the Pacific Northwest to promote it a bit After eight exhausting days (loading and unloading our own gear and sleeping on hard floors) I returned home weary, happy to see my wife and ready for my own bed. Not even 6 hours later, I recieved a phone call from a co-worker saying he just heard on the radio that my neighborhood was part of a very large "mandatory evacuation". (There's been a large wildfire near the town we live in and some late afternoon gusts came along and started a very dangerous and rapidly moving "spot fire" down the canyon opposit the one we live in). So, without a chance to unpack or have a decent nights sleep, my wife and I start prioritizing what we own. First were our two cats, my computer hardrives and whatever documents and irreplacable items we owned and packed them up into my truck. It was too surreal. We spent the next few nights camping out in a friend's yard south of here and clear of the smoke. We just learned this morning that our status has gone down to "voluntary evacuation" (good news) so here we are back home, but not quite ready to unpack all of our stuff yet (especially all our Disney memorabilia!
) Any good vibes or well wishes you can send to our community would be greatly appreciated. I know there are some powerfully helpfull people here on these boards and I'm hoping I can tap into some of your great energies. Hope to see you all again in VMK soon and we can get back to life as normal (in VMK and in the real world) Miss you folks!
