Just Returned Home........8 Day PH's Not Enough!

Welcome back! It sounds like you had a great time and I can't wait to see your pics.

Welcome back! Your trip being over means that I am a few days closer to the start of my trip. Sept. 5th can't get here fast enough, but I am looking forward to seeing your pics to tide me over until then!

Welcome back! :)

Wow, 4000 pictures, that sounds really awesome!
It sounds like you and your family had a really great time, and cannot wait until another visit.
Regarding the ticket scanning, what exactly was it that was being done for many of the visitors? I don't believe that I understood how things were being done differently for many, but not for all, especially in comparison to how one normally would enter the park. ( I am confused here, what can I say? ) he he!

Regarding the ticket scanning.....They swing open the iron gate about 2 minutes or so before we actually get to go through the turnstile. During this time, one of the CM's is standing out behind all of the other CM's yelling and cheering us on to get everyone excited and then has us count down to the actual opening. During this time, the CM at the turnstile will scan the first few people in line that he or she can reach so it speeds up those people getting through the turnstile when the countdown reaches zero. On our 2nd MM, our particular CM didn't bother making things more efficient and refused to "pre-scan" the first few people in line. So, while every other turnstile was letting people through, we were lagging behind getting our ticket scanned. Again, not a big deal. Just an annoyance I thought I would mention.

Thanks mikayla73!

Thanks cheshiregirl.......Hopefully I will have my pictures uploaded by the time you leave! ;)

I used our GPS for the route. The route it provided from the CCI was 19 miles and basically had us take the 5 to 55 to 73 and exiting off on Macarthur Blvd then veering left onto PCH. At that point, we just looked for parking on the street and were lucky enough to find a spot really close where you walk down the path on the hill since the road is quite higher up than the beach. Hope this helps a little. :goodvibes

Hi, it helps alot!!! Thanks! Did you just enter Corona Del Mar in your GPS or did you actually have a complete address? Thanks (the GPS is all new for me!!!):)

I was hoping to run into you while we were in the park to get a few photo tips, but I never saw you. I thought my picture count at 412 was impressive, but 4,000?! Wow. I forgot my tripod, so I had to resort to my mini tripod and garbage cans to get the few night shots I took. Oh well, there's always next year!

:welcome: BACK Danny!!

Can't wait to see your pics!!! We're the CMs kicking you out at night, for those last minute shots?

I will be eating my popcorn:: in anticipation of you artwork!

PS- I love Huntington Beach! That is one of our favorite beaches to go to, and people watch along the "strand." Also the pier, the surfers, beach volleyball, and my DH's favorite..................all of the exotic cars along the PCH. :cloud9:

I've briefly gone through my Screamin' pics and there basically is no blur on any of them. I jacked up the shutter speed on the D300 to 1/4000 second and even 1/8000 second on some of them. Sharp as a tack! ;) I wanted to make sure everything was in focus but I definitely know what you're talking about with regards to blurring giving you that sense of speed. I had to decide on one or the other effect since there was no time to change much once flying around the ride! :)

Wow! That's some fast shutter speeds! Where is the greedily drooling icon for time like these? Someone make one -- quick! LOL:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: I want a D300 too now dang it! ;) I can't wait to see your photos! :yay: :yay: :dance3:

just skimmed your trip report. We are thinking of doing a week in southern CA next summer. A few days in DL then a few relaxing in San Diego. Will probably stay at GC in DL, but need help w/ hotel in San Diego. Would like beachfront, really interested in Del Coronado (as we love the GF in WDW). But if can't get ressies or alittle too expensive, are there other good options. I would like a 4-star if possible. (I like to be pampered on vacation.)

Welcome back Danny and family, I have a few month's of catching up to do.

Jack

Sorry, I have missed a few of these since the thread got moved.

I just entered Corona Del Mar and once you're there you will certainly find your way to the beach!

I was looking for others as well. Too bad we didn't get to meet up. I'm sure the mini tripod and trash cans can work just fine. I can't wait to see your shots! :)

Thanks tinkermell! I actually played nice with security this trip. I had enough days to not have to try to eek out those extra minutes. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it's hard to not drool all over the camera when shooting that fast as well as hearing the 8fps. :cool2:

Jack

Thanks for the welcome Jack! I snagged a few more POTC shots this time around also. That is just one hard ride to get "perfect" shots. It's just borderline with the lighting which makes it so frustrating. Now, rides like Peter Pan, Indiana Jones, and other mostly dark rides, you pretty much know they won't turn out.

I would say top but I know your list is FULL of supporters!

I don't know how I missed this but I'm glad I'm on board now!

:goodvibes
