We arrived home last night after a wonderful first trip to Vero Beach.

We left last Sunday 6/11 from Philadelphia airport and the plane was actually on time. Amazing coming from the airport with the worst on time record in the country.
The plane arrived in MCO and the process from getting a rental car from Dollar was very easy. Since no one was at the counter when I got there, it went very fast.
I clocked the distance from the rental car parking spot to the front door of Vero as 93 miles. We made very good time, considering the few slows down we had from some very heavy rain. Arriving at the resort just after 4:00 P.M.
Our room was an inn room with an ocean view. We were in room 2427 which is on the north side of the resort. We were facing the villa's next to us but still had a lovely view of the water from our room.
Monday and Tuesday were cloudy with a little rain on Monday. However it did not start to rain on Monday until after we brought the kids up from the pool and got them bathed and down or a nap. When they got up we did the "rainy day schedule" they put out. It included arts and crafts in the community hall and the unbirthday party. My wife joined my two daughters while I hit the gym. It looks like the gym has never been updated with some old equipment, but it did it's purpose.

Wednesday we drove over to Downtown Disney since my wife wanted to do some shopping. The distance was 166 miles and a very easy drive. After shopping we went over to the Beach Club for dinner at Cape May. It was a first for us to eat there and it was great. Adding that place to the list of must do's again. After dinner was a stoll around the Boardwalk and then ice cream from Beaches n cream. Never a let down there as it IS a family favorite.

The rest of the week was spent by the pool relaxing and playing with the kids. Plenty of kid activities to keep them occupied all day.
On Saturday we did the character breakfast. It was Goofy and Donald. They spent a lot of time with each table, coming back more then once to each one. Donald even made a trip around the pool twice later in the day.
They had a DJ playing by the pool on Saturday and were doing dances and other pool games. We had a blast and the kids loved dancing.

Over all we had a great time and will be going back. Next time we may go at the end of our WDW trip. It was very hard to not go there straight from the airport. Even harder to drive over for a day and then head back to the beach. The girls kept asking if we could stay once we arrived at the Beach Club.
If anyone has any questions I will be glad to try and answer them.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. We were caught in that heavy rain heading home from WDW on 6/11....it was really bad heading north on 95.

How long did the drive between WDW and Vero take? We're considering this for sometime in the future.

The drive from Vero to WDW isn't too bad. We did a WDW trip in the middle of our VB trip last month. We left VB at 5:30am and pulled into the Poly in about 100 minutes. Needless to say, but we were flying up 95N. We actually made it to MK well before rope drop. We stayed over at the Poly and hit Typhoon Lagoon, and then drove back to VB in time for dinner.

Just got back from Vero too. Checked in on the 11th and left the 15th. Was a great and relaxing trip and would recommend it. :cool1:

Lesley,
I need to correct the distance. It was 116 miles, not 166. The drive is all highway and took about an hour and a half. I have a heavy foot so the drive was pretty quick.

Sounds like a magical time. :)

:offtopic: I arrived today a couple minutes to 4pm.

I was a little disappointed when the person checking me said, your room isn't ready. I had to ask why. She said things can be difficult and I'm not suppose to check-in until 4pm. I told her that I had 3:59 and I was willing to wait the minute.

Other than that this place is great .... I love it so far!
