Just returned from ssr

To those offended by my YELLING, my apology. It was not my intention. Guess I was so excited about letting you know about the trip I didn't want to take the time to stop typing. Won't happen again.

I don't think you'd enjoy the heat we experienced.
On Thursday evening we attempted a jaunt to EPCOT and only lasted less than 2 hours in the park. The heat and humidity was unbearable and I became very concerned for my wife.
She recently completed chemo therapy and I thought it would be a great break to take her to the World for some down time. The heat really did her in. Although we did enjoy our down time. We'll try to go back in the fall or winter for a week or so to make up for this one.

She really loves the parks. Her favorite is MK. Mine is Epcot. So you know where we spent the park time, right? :confused3

Magic Kingdom of course!!! :mickeyjum

Those of you who are still in SSR or will be soon, please share your experience so we can all enjoy the trip along with you.

Just want to send along best wishes to your wife for a full and speedy recovery!:goodvibes

I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip and the dining, thanks.
I personally have stayed in the Grandstand twice and I didn't find the walk (did it sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) to The Turf Club or the main pool area to be bad at all.... It's not nearly as far as walking from the entrance of the Magic Kingdom to Toon Town. And it's certainly closer than Congress Park (stayed here too) to DownTown Disney.
As for the heat we prefer Disney in July/August so I say.....BRING ON THE :beach: HEAT!"

I really enjoyed your report! So happy to hear Portobello's was good- my DH ate there last month with his college buddies (they were in Orlando golfing) and everyone said it was awful- they must have had an off night. I personally have never been. I HAVE been to the Turf Club, however- and I agree, I think it is just wonderful!:thumbsup2

Sorry you had a rough time in the heat- I see the forcast is for the 90's next week- guess we'll be hangin' in the pool and water rides!:goodvibes Thanks for sharing!

We were in the last building in the area. Furthest from the main building right on the golf course next to the little lake with the fountain ay LBV Golf. I would have walked, but couldn't ask DW to do so. Glad we had the car to run back and forth. The 96 to 98 degree weather just beat us up too much to walk that far. Don't know how you can stanf that kind of heat. July and August would be unbearable for us with the humidity.
In cooler weather we would have been quite happy to walk the distance. We are both walkers. Used to walk 4 to 5 miles every day before she became ill. Since then, not too much exercise has been in the program. I'd rather spend my time with her than walk alone.

So sorry to hear that your wife is ill....that does make the walk and the heat that much harder. I know that the last trip that my husband made in August 2007 (he passed away in July 2008) the kids and I did most of the walking.... he stayed in the coolness or in the pool.

Make sure to take care of yourself too!!!! :flower3:

Thanks for the kind thoughts.
So sorry to hear of your loss.
You're now in my prayers.
Stay strong.

We had gone down years ago for Memorial Day and we experienced the same heat and humidity. We love WDW but unless you expect the heat (like in summertime), it can cramp your plans. Now we try to go down in Feb. We will be at SSR two days before our cruise this summer and planned what we are going to do by keeping the heat in mind.

Best of luck to your wife. I think just being in WDW made her feel better, heat and all.

we were at WDW last week also, but found the weather beautiful :cloud9: it was hot, but the oppressive humidity of july & august was missing (thank goodness!!). we spend many moments just gazing at the gorgeous blue skies.....
chemo makes heat very difficult to bear tho. our best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife!!

Well, unfortunately for us Floridian's and parents of school age children, summer is really the only time we can go! We do early EMH and frequent the water parks, otherwise the heat is intolerable.

So sorry for your Dear Wife, my Mother had a heart condition and pretty much stayed inside from May thru October, because the heat/humidity was so hard on her.

If you are able to, sticking to Nov thru April would allow a much cooler vacation. I would't go in summer if I didn't have to but I'm still happy that we'll be there in 23 days! Yeah!

GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAD A NICE TIME IN SPITE OF THE HEAT! Well, You did say you were hard of hearing! :lmao:

We usually go in early December or during the fall.
Changed plans this year as we had just bought in to DVC and I wanted to get her mind off what she's been through.
We're already planning a trip for early December to make up for this one.

I loved you sense of humor:rotfl:

Thanks
