We just returned from Pop as well. We stayed in the 70's section, Bldg 10 (Big Wheel icon). The building was very close to the main bldg, just a short walk. They made us park in the 80's parking lot and we parked in the 1st spot next to the walkway. However, the 70's parking was right next to our building... we didn't move the car, but next time I'll know.
This is the second time we stay at Pop and we really love it. Last time we stayed during the 4th of July weekend and parking was really bad. We stayed in the 60's section, preferred, back then. We had a lovely view since our room was on the other side of the pool, facing Hourglass lake.
We didn't use the pool this time, but we did use the main pool in July and enjoyed it. The only think missing was a slide... too bad the values don't have any. My DD7 loved it anyway. It's really one of our favorite resorts, even though we stay mostly in moderates/deluxe. Our DH and I were sitting in the food court just saying how much we like it there... more than some of the more expensive ones... go figure. Just outside our building, they have a Twister game and I saw some kids playing... it looked like so much fun!
The food court in Pop, IMHO is one of the best. Their selection is really good; better than most. They have toasters and microwaves for you to use. They also have Icees, which I haven't seen in any other food court (makes the $11.99 mug a better value), and even have more condiments than other food courts on property. I really give it high marks compared to the rest.
As a child of the 70's & 80's, I really love the atmosphere there. The music brings back a lot of memories and it just makes me feel good. We stayed at POFQ in Sept and, though it's beautiful and I really liked it, I prefer Pop... ahhh, if just the rooms were the same size as POFQ!
We are new DVC members and will be staying at the DVC resorts next year, but I do not doubt that we will still stay at Pop for a weekend or two when we don't want to use points....
