princess: My family and I just returned from Pop Century on Oct. 23. It was a really nice, family friendly resort that I would definately return to. My 2 1/2 yr. old daughter loved the kiddie pool and it was nice having her play with all of the other kids and not worry about her falling into the deep water. My only surprise was the pool being open until 12 am. We were in room 4205 and it was kind of hard to fall asleep with all of the noise but we finally got use to it and we really LOVED the view from our room. Was anyone else at the Pop between Oct. 16 to the 23rd? Anyone with more info on the Pop for our future vacation? Thanks to all who reply. princess:

Glad to hear you liked it. We are going March 19 - 26.
I will be sure to ask for a room away from the pools.

Were the pools heated? IF so how warm?

thanks!:sunny:

We're staying there next month. I'd love to know if there's a particular area of the resort you'd recommend to best see the fireworks from? Also, did you eat at the food court? How were the breakfast items? Lunch and dinner? What section of the resort is closest to the food court?

Thanks!

I do not recall seeing the fireworks from my room location. Our building was right outside the doors of the food court; first bldg. on the right. This was a great location for this reason and a close walk to the transportation also. We did eat at the food court and the food was pretty good. They had several breakfast, lunch and dinner items to choose from for both adults and kids under 11. Our bldg. was the 60's theme and the pool is the shape of a flower. If you have a young child traveling with you they will really love the kiddie pool. Have a great vacation and let me know how you enjoyed the Pop. princess:

The main pool we used, located in the 60's area was nice and cool. The kiddie pool was just like bath water. Please do not let me discourage you from obtaining a waterview room. Maybe just request to be on the 4th floor of the bldg. Maybe it is quiter up there. princess:

Hi,
We were at POP in Feb of 2004, 50's building 2, roo 2456. We could see IllumiNations at night and some fireworks in the distance. I would call 3 days ahead and request this view. Or add it to your ressie.

Great room, quiet, 5 min walk from Food Court, buses etc.

Have fun!!

It's the building you get if you book "preferred" instead of standard. I think it's about $10/night more.

I don't know if any standards get "upgraded" to 60s though!

We've stayed at ASMo and ASMu, and both places involved quite a bit of walking. We think it's worth it to save the steps for DS7 and be closer to the food court, transportation, etc.

But many of the standard rooms are just as close! You just don't know if you'll get one of the close ones or not.:p

It's finally getting close!!!

OHHH this makes me more excited to go. I just can't wait.

Hmm wondering if you can see Illuminations from the 70's building. I think that sounds like a fun building to stay in.

Be careful because not all of the preferred rooms are all that close to the food court, main building, bus etc. The ones at the other end are even farther than some of the 50's or 70's building's rooms. If you do not care about seeing IllumiNations/fireworks I'd request 50's building, facing Tramp's dog house or near the Bowling Pin stairs on the Tramp side. It is very close to the 50's pool and the food court. Not a preferred price but a great location. You can see it on this map:

The next one is excellent POP resource, photos of rooms, buildings, maps - everything you want to know! If you have dial- up may take awhile to load.

Enjoy!!

We were at the PC in late August, and absolutely loved it! We thought it was much more "Disney" than POFQ. It was also IMHO heads and tails above ASMU. All the theming really adds to the feel of the resort and I would definately stay there again. We are going to the Poly in Feb., and I am actually nervous that it will not be as "Disney" as the PC. Have a magical trip!:sunny:

You will not be disappointed in the Poly...it's got all the original Resort magic! :)
And being on the monorail just cannot be beat - you'll feel you are a million miles away from "real life" and have been immersed in the Disney Magic. Nothing can compare....sigh...

It will be wonderful!

we requested 60's and the Cm told us it was not all preferred, so you can request it still. we have a standard room rate.

Has the parking at Pop gotten any better? We will be there Dec 3-11th and want to stay in the 70's section.

Thanks

That's because it's a much farther walk! ;) Have you looked at the map? Can be a walk from some of the 60's locations - but nothing is all that far.

The 50's have parking right behind building 2, so that would help if soemone wants parking close by (and who wouldn't ?!).

We just returned from Pop as well. We stayed in the 70's section, Bldg 10 (Big Wheel icon). The building was very close to the main bldg, just a short walk. They made us park in the 80's parking lot and we parked in the 1st spot next to the walkway. However, the 70's parking was right next to our building... we didn't move the car, but next time I'll know.

This is the second time we stay at Pop and we really love it. Last time we stayed during the 4th of July weekend and parking was really bad. We stayed in the 60's section, preferred, back then. We had a lovely view since our room was on the other side of the pool, facing Hourglass lake.

We didn't use the pool this time, but we did use the main pool in July and enjoyed it. The only think missing was a slide... too bad the values don't have any. My DD7 loved it anyway. It's really one of our favorite resorts, even though we stay mostly in moderates/deluxe. Our DH and I were sitting in the food court just saying how much we like it there... more than some of the more expensive ones... go figure. Just outside our building, they have a Twister game and I saw some kids playing... it looked like so much fun!

The food court in Pop, IMHO is one of the best. Their selection is really good; better than most. They have toasters and microwaves for you to use. They also have Icees, which I haven't seen in any other food court (makes the $11.99 mug a better value), and even have more condiments than other food courts on property. I really give it high marks compared to the rest.

As a child of the 70's & 80's, I really love the atmosphere there. The music brings back a lot of memories and it just makes me feel good. We stayed at POFQ in Sept and, though it's beautiful and I really liked it, I prefer Pop... ahhh, if just the rooms were the same size as POFQ!

We are new DVC members and will be staying at the DVC resorts next year, but I do not doubt that we will still stay at Pop for a weekend or two when we don't want to use points....
