Had a great time as usual, our third straight year staying there. We finally got into Fiji, after the past 2 years in Tokeleau. We definately enjoyed the location much more, as its a nice short walk to the GCH and the pool and shuttle boat.

We were suprised when we got in the room and got a new room, as I forgot that Fiji was just renovated. I have pics of the room and will upload them on Monday for anyone who wants to see. I have 2 pics of the view from 3318. Great room and view. You can see a rainbow on the top of the second pic, with the Contemporary. Too bad I couldn't get this room everytime.

The weather was not the best, but a bad day on there is better than a good day at work. I'm working on a TR, and will post it as soon as I am done. On a side note, Lilo and Stitch have joined Ohana Breakfast. Chip and Dale are now gone.

Cool pictures. Thanks for posting them.

Sorry too hear about the weather. Was there a lot of rain?

Did you have a car? I've wondered how convenient parking is for the Western longhouses? Self parking seems a bit of a hike although still tons better than most of the resorts.

Glad you got a room in Fiji since that is what you wanted. :sunny:

Yes, we did rent a car. The walk from the parking lot was more of a hike than from Tokeleau, but since we spend most of our time at MK, we rarely used the car anyway. I would say the convience of the close walk to the pool and GCH (not to mention Captain Cook's) far outweighs the little longer walk to the car.

We are leaving for the Poly on Thursday..... I have requested Fiji too.. :flower: How nice for you to get what you have requested! :sunny:

Just wondering if you can smell gas from the boats in those rooms on the marina side of Fiji? Is there a musty smell from all that water? Love the view, and thinking of requesting it next trip. TIA :sunny:

hygienejean..good luck in getting Fiji. My suggestion, if at all possible is get there early. That is what the cast member behind the desk told me. We checked in around noon. She said if we were in late at night, someone else who complained about their view or room might of bounced us out of ours. Have a safe and fun trip. Enjoy every moment, as it will fly by and you will be back sooner than you think!

iloveeeyore..no gas smell in the room, but we were on the third floor. No musty smell either, but the room was just rehabbed. For a garden view, I must say we felt spoiled with the view and location. We can't wait to get back there.

Hey PolyGuy!

Unfortunately for me, we are arriving LATE! :confused3 I was thinking of calling in the AM before our flight left to let them know we would be arriving late and to PLEASE not give our room out! I was concerned that that may happen....I'll have to post when I return to let you know what happens!

2 more days!!! :goodvibes

Poly guy,

GREAT view!! We were on the other side of fiji on 2nd floor, no balcony but I knew it was a new room so I did not care!! Next year I will know EXACTLY what I want and it sounds like you had it!! :sunny:

I really can not see us staying anywhere but the Poly...it was wonderful...
we were there from 9-28 to 10-03 and thought the weather was good and crowds were good too. Noticed a pick up on Sat and then a REAL pick up by Monday...

only weather we ran into was a 15 min downpour...long enough for them to cancel FANTASMIC!!! :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: and then 5 sec after the announcement CLEAR SKIES!! URRGHH...
we have a good reason to go back next year....
I am thinking either around Sept 20 or later like End November or begin December...would like to see holiday decorations, but missed MNSSHP thi year so....ahhh choices choices...

all in all though I would think it would be TOUGH to beat the Poly!!! ESP with the new rooms

hygienejean..this is exactly what happend to us last year. We didn't get in until 8pm on a Saturday night, so we had no choices for rooms, as our requests had already been taken by earlier arriving guests. Good luck and let me know what you get! Have a good safe trip...and enjoy every minute, it flies by.

MOMOFMNM..You got it right. The crowds were absolutley horrible in my opinion. We normally used to go in Jan / Feb, but went last Oct, and they were not even close to this year. We had to wait 40 min for Honey I shrunk the audience...whats that about. The best weather day we had was 10/8, the day we were leaving, so we played by the pool and beach all day. You are correct, once you go Poly, its hard to go elsewhere. We used to be an offsite $300 a week place family. With the deals from Disney, and the great surroundings, not anymore.

Now just if I could convince the wife to go again next year....

Hi,
Our family is off to the Poly on 10/22 ... How do you request a building or upgrade your room. We have reserved a garden room. Thanks!

tb3kids..I wouldn't request an upgrade, but call reservations and make sure they put a longhouse request or 2 on your reservation. They say its not guaranteed, but at least they will try and give it to you. We requested Samoa or Fiji, and got a great Fiji room. Please note that we have done the same request the past 3 years, and this is the only year we got it. Like I mentioned earlier, the earlier you check in, the better chance of getting a certain longhouse.

Have a great trip. No matter where you are there, you will love it.

Thanks polyguy!
I will call reservations today! We are landing around 9:30am on a Saturday and I will get right to checking in! This will be our first time at WDW with our kids and staying onsite!
Noticed that you were commenting about crowd size for October. Was it more or less crowded than you remember? We picked October because of reported light crowds.
We were going to hit the pool after we check in and head for Frontierland around 2:30 for the 3:00 parade. Is Saturday a crowded day for MK?

Thnx, Tb3kids :earsgirl:

More pics from our wonderful stay at the Polynesian last week.

Thanks for letting me share

tb3kids..this October was much, much more crowded than last year. With the free dining promotion ended now, the crowds should be lighted than last week, but MK on a Saturday is crowded no matter what...

Have fun! ::MickeyMo

Thanks for the photos. I'm planning on our first time at the Poly sometime in '06. But I have to admit, the view of the CR from your room made me miss the CR...we stayed there last year and loved it. I'm sure we'll love the Poly, too!

Polyguy,
Loved the pictures. Appreciate for your advice! Fiji is beautiful.
We are <walking on sunshine> around here preparing for our trip next week. :cloud9:
TB3kids

TB..Please do let me know which building you ended up in. One big suggestion, leave some time for the pool. The first 5 days we were there, the kids spent at least 1 hr a day in the pool. :sunny:

What did you think of the new decor? (and how did you like the old decor)
I remember seeing photos of test rooms that had full headboards. The bed pics I've seen recently don't look as nice. I was really excited to be staying in a new room for my December trip, but now I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

Stitches, you will definately not be disappointed. Everything had that new feeling in it, like when you get a new car or new furniture...I think you will love it. We sure did, and we were definately suprised (good suprise) with the room location and the newly remodeled room. Believe me, the headboard thing won't bother you. :earsboy:
