We just returned from POFQ - we were there from 05/02 through 05/08 - 2 adults, DS (7) and DD (6).
There is little doubt that the grounds are beautiful and everyone is well aware that the guest rooms have been refurbished; however, my overall experience with the resort rates unsatisfactory, due to poor service.
We experienced a long wait (45 minutes) checking in, mousekeeping was unacceptable - the first day our bed was not made, the next day, mousekeeping forgot to remove our used bath towels. After the bath towel incident, I telephoned the front desk and requested that they remove the towels while we went to dinner (which they said they would); when we returned, the towels were not removed.
I spoke with the resort's general manager and he acknowledged that the resort was experiencing some deficiencies in its "mousekeeping" and assured me that we would receive a daily manager's review of our room for the remaining days that we were in the resort. As a gesture, they credited us for one night. Unfortunately, the mousekeeping remained consistently below average - Kleenex boxes were not replaced, drinking glasses and coffee cups were forgotten....seemingly little things, but important enough that when you need them and they are missing, it's aggravating. We did have an ample supply of shampoo though!
Bus transportation was very slow, most notably in returning from the Magic Kingdom Park (be prepared to wait).
However, the most aggravating service event occurred to my DD who was celebrating her birthday during our stay. Prior to our arrival, we mentioned to the Disney reservation folks that our daughter would be turning 6. They asked whom her favorite character was (Belle) and said that a birthday card would be sent to her room -- a nice gesture. At check-in, the information was still in they system and all was set. My daughter's birthday passed with no card (we didn't mention any of this to her as there were many other planned surprises for her throughout the day and this was one additional). When we returned to the room that evening and found no card, but from my thinking, no big deal as her day was very exciting. The next day, I asked the Guest Services what happened and they said that the card was delivered and perhaps I didn't see it - no....at check-out, the front desk confirmed that the card was never sent and was asked if I wanted it sent to my home address instead - I dislike being lied to.
POFQ is a nice looking resort, the grounds are beautiful, but that's only a small slice of the entire picture. Fortunately, we had a week filled with sunshine and spent lots of time in the parks. On our rides back to the resort, my wife and I joked about what we would find when we arrived to our room - not the type of discussion that you want to have at the end of a long day.
