I have read several positive and negative reviews on the Park Vue lately so I wasn't really sure if I would be happy there but I was surprised at what a great place it was. I have stayed at DL several times at: Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel, HOJO, Sheraton Anaheim, Jolly Roger and Ramada Maingate. Considering cost, amenities, convenience, friendliness, cleanliness and extras, Park Vue was #1. From the gift basket with wine in our room, to bottled water whenever you wanted it, from cold drinks and cookies 24/7 in the lobby plus coffees and teas, to breakfast and a light dinner, it was a bargain at AAA rate of $93 a night. We had a lousy cot and the safe wouldn't work, but those items were fixed quickly and with utmost pleasantness. The maids spent at least 30 minutes in all the rooms cleaning and our rooms were spotless. The carpets were clean (all rooms have now been upgraded), and they no longer use comforters so no worries about bedbugs. The beds were comfy, we were second floor towards the back, so quiet, quiet, quiet. And the location is phenomenal! Of course when we stayed at the Paradise Pier Concierge it was much fancier and nicer, but hey, I paid three times the price. So value for money, plus everything else, I recommend Park Vue. We are a family of 5 with 3 boys 16,12 and 10 travelling with another family of 5 with 3 boys, 15, 13, 11 and they also thought it was fabulous. We both had double queen rooms with roll a ways because the front desk said they were roomier than the ones with bunk beds plus the sink was outside the bathroom which is necessary for such a large family. Couldn't be beat. Oh, and they also had fruit available on demand.

Don't hesitate to book there. We loved it and would go back.

Thank you!! I've been thinking about trying the PVI. I have a great friend who ALWAYS chooses to stay there.

Thanks for sharing, it was great to hear a positive review. We'll be there next month, I can't wait.:yay::yay::yay:

Thanks for the informative review! This is a definite contender for our hotel choice! How did you like the social hour appetizers?

The social hour is more like a light dinner. Its not the selling point for me, but if you have a big meal in the park for lunch (like Cafe Orleans) and want something light and quick its fine. There are different meals every night, we didn't eat every night, but there is: hamburger sliders, chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, chili and hot dogs, and cheese enchiladas are ones we had. They also have a taco night, but I don't know what else. As well, there is chicken noodle soup and one other one every night, potato salad, green salad, raw veggies, potato chips or taco chips. Always drinks and don't forget to the go to the lobby for their delicious cookies.

A pointer I got off the boards here is to ask at the front desk for bottled water. They give you as many as you want. Its not always cold, so we took our own bottle and filled it up with ice and then put in the water. They also have cold lemon water in the lobby which was handy too. One bottle of plain water for the kids, lemon water for the parents. Saved us money and time!

Thanks for the great review. We will be staying here in December in the
2room 3queen suite. We will have my mother (70) with us so the close walk will be much appreciated. :)

We are at the Park Vue right now, and loving it as always! We usually try and take advantage of the social hour. It's not the healthiest food, but it easily makes a meal without having to shell out a ton of extra money to eat out. I actually really like the little slider hamburgers they have, they are tasty!

The only con I have is that I wish the hot tub was a little hotter.

Thanks for the great info!

Thanks for the information. I've never stayed there but will definitely consider it for my next stay.

Thanks for this review! I hadn't even considered this hotel (only because I was searching through Good Neighbor hotels), now I think we may have found our Disneyland home! The cocktail hour and full breakfast (do they really have eggs and sausage? every other place only seemed to have cereal and juice!) really sold me. Plus the bunkbeds, awesome for our kids. Anybody have any negatives about this place I should be aware of? Also, do you still get the Magic Morning entry if you stay here? We are planning to buy the Citypass, if that makes a difference.

I just went to their website and tried to find the price for reservations for next summer and I couldn't get it to function for me.. Is there some trick to it?

There was a thread here recently in which someone had a billing problem, and couldn't even get a manager to call her back. Other people looked up PVI on BBB, and found they have a very poor rating due to the fact that they don't address customer complaints. The consensus of the thread was that PVI is a good place if your stay goes smoothly, but be sure to keep a close eye on the bill.

A 3-day or longer ParkHopper will get you one MM. The only way to get more is to stay on-site at one of the Disney Hotels. Good Neighbor and other hotel/motels don't give you any MM privileges.

HTH,
Bob

Glad you had a good stay. We were there ourselves from Aug 19 - Aug 26 and we absolutely loved it. My wife mentioned that she wouldn't mind staying there every time we go to DLR in the future. I couldn't really point out a single complaint about the hotel (other than a little bit of noise from other guests outside which is to be expected given the type of hotel). I'd give a bit of my review of the hotel here, but it's basically the exact same as what you mentioned. And the gift basket for my MIL on her birthday was just icing on the cake.

I agree it's a great place!:thumbsup2 We stayed there in April in a Queen/bunk room ( family of four) and didn't mind the smaller room. We all loved it and hope to stay there again!:goodvibes

Yep there are eggs everyday and the sausage and bacon rotate. One day is sausage, the next is usually biscuits and sausage gravy, then the next day is bacon, then back to the sausage. They really have a good selection of breakfast foods.

Thanks for the review. The tip about the double queen being roomier with a roll away than the bunkbeds is great to know!

Sounds like a nice place to stay overall. Will definatly check into the next time we go.

slg, how comfy were the beds compared to Hojo's pillow top beds? I need a softer bed to sleep well at all at a hotel.

I found the beds at Park Vue very comfortable. I liked HOJO as well, but personally I don't prefer one to another.

As for the person who couldn't talk to the manager, I find that very strange as everyone was so helpful all the time. I also had a question about the charges on my bill, but there was some kind of $2 a night hotel surcharge or tax that made a $16 discrepancy, but when I called, they explained it very well and told me there was an explanation on the invoice, which there was.

I found that everyone was bending over backwards to please us and super polite at all times. Perhaps that was an off day. Certainly management is aware that negative reviews spread quickly and I even talked about it with on of the fellows about it. He said that they had now renovated all the rooms so that all the carpets were clean and they spent extra time cleaning (which I found to be true).

I'm sure there will always be negative experiences everywhere. I didn't find my stay at the Disneyland Hotel that wonderful, there was a broken door to my closet, the a/c wasn't working properly, and they double booked our room so when we went in it there was another family already there! However, these things happen and I wouldn't tell anyone not to go there because of those things.

Certainly the water park is fantastic at the HOJO, and if you have small eaters and get the entertainment rate, its a great deal. We enjoyed our stay there as well. There are pros and cons to all hotels, I just think that all things considering, Park Vue tops them all.

PS I also stayed at the Fairfield Inn too, which I had forgotten to mention.

Does anyone know if the bunk beds are normal length ( not shorter for kids only)? We are going in March and my teenage son will be sleeping on one.
