Just returned from Park Vue...great!

We stayed at the PVI at the end of July through early August and loved it too! We also experienced excellent service from the front desk to housekeeping.

We never took part in the evening meals, breakfasts were ok, hot, and we always made waffles. Water and cookies in the lobby. Literally right across the street. We would stay there again when we dont get a good discount at the GCH.

I found the beds at Park Vue very comfortable. I liked HOJO as well, but personally I don't prefer one to another.

As for the person who couldn't talk to the manager, I find that very strange as everyone was so helpful all the time. I also had a question about the charges on my bill, but there was some kind of $2 a night hotel surcharge or tax that made a $16 discrepancy, but when I called, they explained it very well and told me there was an explanation on the invoice, which there was.

I found that everyone was bending over backwards to please us and super polite at all times. Perhaps that was an off day. Certainly management is aware that negative reviews spread quickly and I even talked about it with on of the fellows about it. He said that they had now renovated all the rooms so that all the carpets were clean and they spent extra time cleaning (which I found to be true).

I'm sure there will always be negative experiences everywhere. I didn't find my stay at the Disneyland Hotel that wonderful, there was a broken door to my closet, the a/c wasn't working properly, and they double booked our room so when we went in it there was another family already there! However, these things happen and I wouldn't tell anyone not to go there because of those things.

Certainly the water park is fantastic at the HOJO, and if you have small eaters and get the entertainment rate, its a great deal. We enjoyed our stay there as well. There are pros and cons to all hotels, I just think that all things considering, Park Vue tops them all.

PS I also stayed at the Fairfield Inn too, which I had forgotten to mention.

I'm the person who posted about the billing issue. It may seem strange, but it's true. I wasn't going to keep bringing this up and slamming the Park Vue, but I'm doing so again because my issue was referenced in this thread.

During our stay, the staff was fine and we had no problems. It was when we checked out that they told us we were being charged for one night in a room that we did not reserve. It was clear to me that a mistake was made within their online reservation system. I modified my existing reservation to reflect a different room type. The sytem kept the old room and made the new one a separate reservation. I never received a second reservation number, only the original one that now showed a new room type. The staff said I would be charged, but also that a supervisor would call me at home the next day to discuss it. No one ever called so I called them and was told the charge would not be reversed. I called again several times and asked for a manager. I was always told the manager was unavailable and they took a message. No one ever called back. I sent several emails asking for someone to contact me and discuss the issue. My emails were never answered. I opened a dispute with my credit card company. They were unable to get Park Vue's bank to release the money back to them, so I'm stuck paying an extra $150. I already paid Park Vue $667 for the room we used. It's hard to believe that they wouldn't even talk to me once I got home. I was very polite in my inquiries, but they still refused to even discuss it. Their Better Business Bureau rating is an F, due in part to billing and customer service issues. I think that shows a lot more than a bad day here and there. They obviously don't care about getting bad reviews. They have the perfect location and people will continue to stay there regardless.

As others have said, most people have a good stay there until there's a problem. Then it all goes downhill.

There are a lot of reviews on tripadvisor.com about the Park Vue that talk about a cleanliness issue --so that is probably worth looking into if you are interested in staying there.

I have never heard of such a thing. If you paid with a major credit card, and are not happy with the quality of service, or were charged for services not rendered, the card issuer absolutely should open a dispute -- a chargeback -- for the issue at hand, and if the response isn't satisfactory, they should refund your money.

I would absolutely force my card issuer to refund my money, this is a bunch of hooey!

I don't mean to get you all worked up about this again, but my business accepts credit cards, and people dispute charges all the time, for the most flimsy of reasons, and it's very easy to get the dispute to stick.

I would call the card issuer and ask for a supervisor.

The process should be especially easy if there are separate charges. If the $150 is on a given day from that vendor, and there's a second larger charge on another day, I'd absolutely state that the charges are duplicates, the second one is for all services rendered, and the initial charge was supposed to be a deposit, which they failed to remove.

They do not have a signature from you for the first charge, and so it was a card not present transaction, they have no way to avoid the dispute being found in your favor.

Keep it simple with the card issuer, but I'd press them on this, it's one of the reasons people trust using credit cards.

Thanks for posting this update. I am a person that takes personal accounts like this to heart. I usually take tripadvisor reviews with a grain of salt, but somehow I feel like DISboard reviews carry a little more weight for some reason haha. Either way, I have many times "threatened" to stay at Park Vue Inn, have booked reservations, but have always cancelled for one reason or another - either changing trip dates or going with another hotel. I remember your original post about the unresolved billing issue, and seeing that it is still not resolved, and appears it will not be, leaves me pretty sure I will no longer ever consider a stay at PVI.

Ditto for me!! Well put, Sonnyjane. (That credit card dispute should have ended up happily but didn't?? I would take it up again - until resolution was reached. Via credit card, because it seems fairly obvious that it won't be reached by PVI!)

Anyway... no matter the good ratings, the good reviews, etc... being overcharged is NOT pleasant at all!

PVI, have you ANYthing to say about this?

Please PVI RESOLVE the issue with the poster was overcharged during her stay... (better now than never, I always say.)

The funny thing is ; the disboard member who posted this comes across as being totally credible - her account of what happened has not been questioned by anyone.
How can any hotel leave the situation alone??

DISboard views speak loud and clear, so perhaps the situation should be resolved satisfactorily to the poster who had issues.

Glad that the OP had a great experience, but in my heart, I feel had there been billing issues, etc, that OP's stay there might not have been a walk in the (Disney) parks. (So to speak... ;) I knew that the experience of being overcharged was not a good one for that other poster, and also know that it made the whole Disney vacation more than a little more sour.)

There are a lot of reviews on tripadvisor.com about the Park Vue that talk about a cleanliness issue --so that is probably worth looking into if you are interested in staying there.

The majority of those dealt with dirty carpets, which have all now been replaced. They do try and address issues that are causing problems, which is why it is so surprising that another poster is having such a problem with a billing issue.

Also, while I can appreciate the frustration and annoyance of someone having to deal with a billing issue that sounds as if it should have been resolved and wasn't, that wouldn't make me stop staying somewhere. It seems to be a fairly isolated type of problem, and I'm pretty sure that any business/hotel has had some kind of billing dispute at one time or another. Every person on here has probably had a billing problem with some company, be it cable, cell phone, internet etc. It happens all the time, usually it gets resolved satisfactorily, but not always. People that won't stay at the PVI because of a pretty isolated incident are losing out imo. They typically are going all out to try and fix problems. I've only ever seen them trying to make sure everything is great for your stay.

It'sKim, have you read the original thread from LuvBunnies? You really should do that. After reading that, it appears to me that it's not an isolated instance. PVI has an F rating from BBB because they don't resolve disputes with their customers. That's not a business that I'd prefer to do business with. I'm not saying that I'd absolutely refuse to consider them in the future, though I respect SonnyJane's decision. But it's a serious black eye for them, IMO, and something I'd seriously consider when thinking of booking with them. YMMV.

For those of you that want to stay at PVI, great! Have a wonderful time! For those of you that prefer not to, great! Enjoy your stay elsewhere. Let's move on to other discussions, as I think we'd all agree that nothing more can be said that hasn't already been said.

Two days after I returned from PVI, I was sent a survey from the owners asking me if I had any issues and what they were and had they been resolved. While I checked out, I was asked repeatedly if we had any issues that weren't satisfactorily resolved. It is terrible that the manager hasn't called you back, and I just can't understand why they wouldn't. I would go back to the hotel and speak with them again and try to resolve this issue.

I have had crazy billing experiences with Alaska airlines,my phone company, and even DLH and WDW that took a long time to resolve, but I never gave up. I didn't go to the credit card people or BBB, but stuck with the original company and eventually all got resolved. In the case of the DLH, they had told me a price and a total on the phone and then was invoiced something else. I called numerous times and was told that I must have written it down incorrectly. Finally I asked if calls were recorded, and was told yes, so I asked them to find the call and listen to it. Several weeks later, I was called back and the invoice was reversed and they apologized. I never get any compensation, but I did get my original quote. I also got the runaround a month ago from WDW which took 6 days to resolve, but did get resolved.

My advice is, stick with the company and give them the opportunity to solve the situation and DON'T hang up until you get someone. There were always managers at PVI about when we were there, so just hang on the phone.

And as for cleanliness, as a PP said, all rooms are now updated. Also, PVI does read what is on Trip advisor and take it very seriously, so I recommend that you post about your negative experience there as well and you may find its resolved very quickly.

To each their own. I enjoyed my stay and will stay again. I travel a lot and I'm quite used to problems with reservations. I just get very adamant and make sure its fixed. Good luck.

Sorry, last post and then I move on to my WDW trip. However, I checked the BBB Park Vue Inn and they have had 4 complaints in the last 3 years. Doesn't sound like very many, but here it what it says. I'm sorry for folks who had a bad experience, but I can only speak for my own, which was fine.

Disneyland is great fun. Have an awesome time wherever you stay. If anyone has any questions about any of the hotels I've stayed at, please PM me.

Disneyland Hotel
Park Vue Inn
Jolly Roger
Sheratan Anaheim
Fairfield Inn
Howard Johnson
Paradise Pier
Ramada Maingate

Stays have always been a minimum of 7 days, except Ramada which was only 5.

Thanks for this review! I hadn't even considered this hotel (only because I was searching through Good Neighbor hotels), now I think we may have found our Disneyland home! The cocktail hour and full breakfast (do they really have eggs and sausage? every other place only seemed to have cereal and juice!) really sold me. Plus the bunkbeds, awesome for our kids. Anybody have any negatives about this place I should be aware of? Also, do you still get the Magic Morning entry if you stay here? We are planning to buy the Citypass, if that makes a difference.

CityPASS does include 1 Magic Morning entry. Let us know if you have further questions!

Does anyone know if the bunk beds are normal length ( not shorter for kids only)? We are going in March and my teenage son will be sleeping on one.

My dd-14 and ds-9 loved the bunkbeds! They seemed like normal size to me and the beds had thick mattresses. Here's a picture, hopefully this helps.:goodvibes

To the poster with the bad experience, I wouldn't return to or recommend a hotel that did that to me either, or any other business for that matter. It is unfortunate that they haven't had a manager return your call to try to resolve this issue. It seems that they could return a phone call at the very least. Is there anybody above the manager that you could talk to?
