...and we had a fabulous stay! :goodvibes

This is the second time our family has had the opportunity to stay at Old Key West and I have to say that it is fast becoming my favorite DVC resort!

We checked in on a Sunday at 4pm and it went like a breeze. We stayed in a studio this time (2 adults, 2 kids). Plenty of room but we really could have used more than just one dresser drawer apiece! Worked out fine with the additional closet space; I'm just not used to hanging up my shorts and tee shirts!

Everything in our studio was clean and in good repair. We saw painting crews all over the resort putting touch-ups on the common areas and our quiet pool area.

We stayed in 4110, Turtle Pond Road. A bit of bus noise as we were right on the "turnaround", but otherwise pleasant. My DD counted exactly 110 paces to the Village Pool, which was lovely and rarely crowded. We never made it over to the main pool. It was so nice to have the Turtle Shack right there if we wanted a snack, although since we drove this trip, we already had a cooler full of goodies.

We had dinner at Olivia's twice, both meals were great. Try the Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup if they are serving it; it was so good.

Bus service was very good. We only had to stand once (on the way to a park for opening) and really the only significant wait was on a late Wed. afternoon to the MK. Otherwise, they were very timely. Not bad, considering it was Spring Break!

All the CMs were friendly and helpful; I have no complaints.

Well, that's it. Just wanted to share!

Glad to hear it! We were at OKW for the first time this past February and we enjoyed our stay (Building 21). We are going back in October and got a 2 Bedroom this time because we have some family coming with us. OKW is a great value on the points!

My favorite at Olivia's are the Olivia's Potatoes

Thanks for the post! We're headed there in just under 4 months! I can't wait! I appreciate hearing your good news all around...

We were just there for my daughters wedding. We both had 2 br's: 5220 and 5210. The groom's mother had a 1 br in building 20 I think. Everyone was very happy with the accomodations.

We may give OKW a try next year. I was looking at the virtual tours of the OKW rooms and I really like the layout. They appear to have bigger rooms and very large balconies. I'm a point miser which makes OKW a very attractive option as well.

Can't wait for our first trip home for the F&WF in Oct. We are really looking forward to treating my mom and dad with our 2 bedroom villa instead of the 2 rooms we usually get at one of the Values or PO

We had a one bedroom in building 26 this past Feb. it was awesome!

I wonder if we passed you at any point as we were there 4/21 - 28th at building 50 near South Point. :)

Rigsby25 - and I wonder if we saw you as at one point while riding in the bus we saw someone taking a wedding dress out of a car and we were just down the road from you..

We had one lunch and one dinner at Olivia's and I had the shrimp & penne pasta both times and really liked it.

Have been OKW members since early 1992 and rarely stay anywhere else. Very casual, great landscaping, much more secluded than other resorts and the rooms are much larger. The is the original DVC resort (the original name was Disney Vacation Club and was later changed to Old Key West) and Disney gave early DVC memebrs exceptional value for the buck. As the popularity of the DVC concept took off the point values went up and the room size became a bit smaller. It is in the original OKW contracts that the point values cannot be raised unless they are lower at other times of the year. For this reason OKW remains the best value in the DVC system.

Nice to hear about how much you all love OKW, as we're heading there for our first stay in August.

We "own" at Saratoga, and have also been to BC and Boardwalk. Can't wait to get a taste of that "Southern hospitality" at OKW.

One question...my familiy will spend a lot of time at the main pool. Which building should we request a room for?

Thank you all

When in August will you be down there. We will be at OKW 8/2 to 8/9, this will be our first time in a GV. They have a special booking for the Hospitality House villas. These are the ones closest to the main themed pool. I would call MS and see if any of these rooms are available. They are available by request for no additional points.

Thanks for the update. I thought we were supposed to make room requests the week prior to arrival, so I wasn't even planning on making a request yet. We'll be there from the 14th of August through the 22nd.

Can't wait :rotfl:
