Just got back from our first trip. WOW! We had such a great time! Kids are already planning our next trip. Thought I'd try to answer a few questions.

First - about putting drinks in suitcases. We had a gallon baggie in each suitcase with three waterbottles inside. All made it fine. On the return trip I placed 1 Sprite in a baggie in the suitcase- all made it trough the flight fine. Just watch your weight. We flew Southwest and were allowed 50 pounds per suitcase. It wouldn't be worth taking if you weighed over and had to pay extra $25.

We stayed at the All-Star Sports so didn't need soda's since we had refillable mugs. Did carry water bottle to each park. At meal times we always ordered cups of ice water (we carried these around). The water wasn't near as bad tasting as I heard - it tasted better than our home water when it was ice cold.

Most meals cost us $20-25 at window service (usually sandwiches and fries)for 2 adults and one child (there was four of us put I usual helped the kids finish theirs and got a snack later) We spent much less than we thought we would on food but we were careful.

Staying at the sports was great because we were the first off the bus each trip back from parks - especially if we were standing. (route went sports - music- last movies).

It did rain everyday but that was a good thing! It keep the temperatures down and slowed down the morning crowds. Don't panic when you see the weather each day and "every day" it says scattered storms. They never last long and few are long. We brought the cheap rain ponchos from Walmart and reused them each day (allow to dry and they refold to small size) Each of us carried one in our fanny packs (we left behind the back pack after the first day when we realized how heavy it got and made each child carry their own supplies).

We got to the parks about 10 minutes after opening which gave the early crowd lines time to shrink. The first hour we hit the biggest attractions with little or no wait (less then 10 min). It was always worth crawling out of bed to get that first hour with out lines.

It was a great first trip!

Glad you had a good time. We are travelling with two families (who've never been) in 19 days! We are all staying at ASSp. I'm the planner and I'm hoping they have a great time (us, too, of course!) We are all driving to WDW, separately. I'm glad to hear your advice about the weather. I don't like lightening, but rainless clouds are usually a welcome in summer! Any other tips you can think of for my gang would be appreciated, since I haven't been a first timer in many years.

Some times it's better to split into groups if there are different interest. As first timers you want to see everything. Since you've been many times (lucky you :cool1: ) you probably have things you skip. We meet another family and the kids wanted to stay together - we had different interest than them so we felt like we were missing out when they didn't want to do what we wanted. don't feel you have to be together every moment. If the kids want to stay together they compromise quickly.

Have a meeting point/time if walkie talkies or cell phones give you problems.

Use those fast passes!

We had our best days when we went to the parks early then went back to the hotel to rest while the kids used the pool mid day then we headed to a different park in the evening. (The parks with evening EMH got too busy each day). The park hopping was great. Kids would be in the mood for rides they won't do the first visit.

Have a great time!

OMG, I am leaving in the morning and was ready to cry when I saw the forecast. Let's hope it keeps the temps down for us too-90s! ugh!

Don't panic about the weather. The forecast was scattered thunderstorms everyday we were there but it didn't stop us. Most storms were a light sprinkle and we didn't even get out the ponchos. It stayed cloudy. The two times it did poor it was over in 10-15 minutes (good time to shop). Most of the ride lines are indoors or covered. Most rides are indoors. It didn't stop us or many others. Don't worry about the forcast! It seemed the worst of the storms always hit while we sleept. Every day is a hat day(didn't curl my hair once-why bother). Have fun no matter what.
