Hi! We just returned late last night from a 9 day stay at the BCV. We had a wonderful time and stayed in a one bedroom for the first time. LOVED IT! Having the washer and dryer in our room was so convenient. We had a 4th floor quiet pool view. Our room was in good shape, no need for any maintanance. The only thing was that the pull out couch looked liked it had been slept in and no sheets were changed. We just called down and clean sheets arrived in about 20 minutes. We had a few really nice dinners on sight with the DDE card and had annual passes that we bought last year so we enjoyed just going into Epcot for dinner at Le Cellier twice. Yum!! We had other great dinners that I will post about when I have more time.

I really have a lot of bill catching up to do so I will check in again later and post some more. Any questions?? I will be happy to try to answer. :sunny:

Since you had the DDE card, were you on the DDP also or not? Did you have any gelato and if you were on the DDP, could you use snack credit for it?

Did you notice if the king bed had a pillowtop mattress. And was the mattress in the sofa bed new.

Does anyone know if the plan is to just replace the mattress in the sofa bed or replace the unit itself so they are like the new OKW design?

Glad you had a good stay. :sunny:

We were there at the same time (got back Sunday 7/9) and the mattresses in our 2-bedroom had not been updated.

Hi! No, we did not also have the dining plan. We decided since we had the DDE we would just cook breakfasts in the room and eat most other meals out and maybe do the dining plan next time. I am sorry I do not know the answer to the gelato question concerning snack credit on the plan. We did not have any this trip, however, my ds had some on the last trip and really enjoyed it.

I am also sorry to say no, the mattresses have not been replaced yet. Atleast ours were not. Although dh and I thought the mattress on the king bed was comfortable, DS (13.5) did not feel the same with his pull out bed. He said the mattress was very hard and the bed made a lot of noise when he moved.

In fact, we had a running joke about that mattress because we had gotten into bed late one night and we did not want DS to stay up any later so DH took his ipod and hid it without letting him know. All of a sudden while we were in bed, I hear what sounded like DS going through the spoon drawer. I yell out, " Are you going through the spoon drawer?" I thought maybe he was up looking for the ipod. He yells back "Mom, What are you talking about? That is my bed. I am in bed." This night we left our bedroom door open so I guess we could hear him more than on previous nights. Poor kid, he said it really was not that comfortable, but as the nights went on and he got more tired, he seemed to do ok with it.

We spent many afternoons at SAB, which was great as usual. However, one of the whirlpools was not working well while we were there. In fact, on Monday (yesterday), they seemed to be doing some work by the whirlpools. Hopefully, they will be in good shape again soon. The pool area was crowded most days and getting a lounge chair was a bit challenging around 11 am on most days. Of course, we were there busy 4th of July week. We saw fireworks on the 3rd at MK and at MGM on the 4th. They were both wonderful. After the MGM ones on the 4th, we stood on the boardwalk bridge and saw some of the Epcot ones, before going back to our room. We def. got our full of fireworks on this trip. They were GREAT! Overall, the parks and resort were pretty crowded, but we did not generally wait more than 20 minutes for an attraction. By one o'clock, some popular attractions had 45 plus waits but having been to WDW many times, we did not wait for any of those attractions. We saw Crush at Epcot for the first time and really enjoyed that. We were there before 11 and had only about a 20 minute wait. DH and DS went on Expedition Everest 3 times before 10:15, one being a single rider line and then DS finally convinced yours truly to try it with the fast passes I got at arrival. It really was fun. I generally shy away from fast roller coasters these days, however, I did enjoy this one and DS was so happy to finally get his scared mom on a "fast and fun" ride. We also went on the refurbished Pirate ride 3 times. The first two times, we went on before it officially reopened on the 7th and there were practically no lines. The third time was on Sat. the 8th and we probably waited about 15 minutes, not too bad. We enjoyed the changes.

We ate at Beaches and Cream about 3 times, Le Cellier twice, Prime Time Cafe twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. We ate at Ohanna for the first time. We enjoyed it, but would not say it was our favorite. We also ate at Cape May Cafe which DS and I really enjoy. DH does not really enjoy that meal too much but goes for us since we do. We had an ADR for Coral Reef yesterday, but cancelled and just went to Beaches and Cream and stayed by the pool until we left for the airport. I can not wait until we start planning next years trip. I just have to figure out how we can do a 1 bedroom again since we only have 200 points. I loved having the extra space and washer and dryer. All of you were right when you said once you try a 1 bedroom, there is no going back. LOL! :thumbsup2

Sorry this is so long. Any other questions, I will try to answer. :sunny:

Thanks for the report. Love the BCV! Glad you had such a great trip.

Thanks for the postive report on BCV seems to be getting slammed lately. WE love our home glad you had a great trip.

Our 2-bedroom (302) had a new pillow-top mattress on the king bed (two weeks ago). I didn't check the queens in the 2nd bedroom

Oh, Disney Doc that is great. Now, if they can replace the sofa mattress to something more comfortable that would be nice. I think my DS would be happier then. :thumbsup2

Hi,
Unfortunately, the gelato was not offered as a snack credit. :sad2: Go to the list that is on the restaurant boards/DDP. Someone started a thread that has a list of all the things you can get using snack credits.

Yes, and according to the last update I saw, 7/10, gelato was listed as a snack credit. However, someone reported they couldn't get it. I was trying to verify which was correct since I have seen that list and gelato is on it.

Anyone care to comment on how the BC lobby refurb is coming along? Pics anyone? I'm dying to get a preview!

I'm glad to read that you had such a great vacation!

When you're at WDW near/on a holiday, are the usual fireworks augmented? Is Wishes shown, and then more, or not Wishes at all? Same question for what happens at MGM or Epcot.

Have fun planning next years trip, and an add on could help you make the accomodations decision :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies.

Bobbi, thank you for your kind words. In answer to your question about wishes and the special fireworks, I feel stupid but I am not sure if I know the answer for you. I have to say even though we have been to Disney many times, we rarely formally watch fire works at MK. What I mean is if we are there during them we usually just continue to go on rides and if we happen to be off a ride during them, we watch. You see, living near the water here on Long Island we do see some nice firework shows during the holidays every year. Although I still like to see them, DH and DS are more like if we happen to see them great, we will watch, but we are not standing for an hour to secure a good spot to see them (those are def. DS (13.5) words.) LOL!

However, since we were there over the 4th, as I said in my earlier post, I made sure we saw them since I heard how beautiful they were. So on the 3rd we did see them at the MK and they did start with Tinkerbell so I do think that is part of the Wishes that you asked about. The show seemed to be pretty long and had some with neat shapes like stars of various colors. They def. were the prettiest I have seen in one showing. I tend to think yes, they did the normal ones and just added more "unique" ones to the show. I could be wrong, but that is what I think. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable with the normal MK Wishes fireworks can give you a more accurate answer. Sorry. I do have to say they really were nice and MGM's (on the 4th) were really beautiful to see too. It was very crowded at both places to view them and it really seemed liked the people around us were equally impressed with them. HTH somewhat. :sunny:

p.s. Boy, do I wish an add on was an option at this point, but I do not think we could swing it right now. :sad2: We just added the 50 points in January. :sunny:

Sounds like a wonderful trip!! We were there in May and the sofa bed had sheets on it too. When I called down to housekeeping about it, she said they always make up the sofa bed when they clean the room?? I thought that was strange. But we ended up changing rooms and the second room also had the sheets on the sofa bed. Strange, don't you think?
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lexxifern. Thanks for the response. Perhaps they do put the sheets on the sofa beds to make it easier for the person coming in. However, these sheets really looked like they were not cleaned since the last occupant. I have a fold out couch at home that is used once in a while when we have a guest since we do not have an extra bed here and when I have left the sheets on and open it up, although of course they are wrinkled somewhat, you can tell I tucked them in and "made the bed". These just did not look like that. I could have been wrong, but my 13 year old did not want to take any chances, if you know what I mean. LOL! :sunny:
