We (me, DS and DM) just returned from 6 nights at the BC concierge. We had a great trip! Although it was rather HOT, mid-90's with high humidity all week! We spent a lot of time in SAB, my DS loved this pool!

At check-in the CM, told us we had a room with great view, she was right! Room 5687, great view of SAB and the BW. We had a long narrow balcony (no chairs). We received a nice chocolate picture frame in our room on arrival. The concierge was able to get us into Chef Mickey's for dinner on my DS's B-day. They also set-up a little party in our room for my DS's B-day, yummy chocolate cake, party hats and blowers, balloons and a card from Mickey. My DS was so excited! We enjoyed the lounge for our morning coffee, juice and toast & fruit. The lounge had the best oatmeal raisin cookies! The desserts were very good. In the early evening, I had a great spinach dip with flatbread, my DM had veggies with dip and my DS had mac & cheese! Most nights my DM and I would have a glass of Bailey's before bed. Very nice service in the lounge.

Every evening the turn down maid would set-up my DS's stuffed animals in a cute way. She always left extra chocolates for my DS on the desk.

We had a great stay at the BC concierge. I can't wait to go back!

Any questions?

Hi there! Welcome home, glad you had a nice holiday and some special birthday magic:D

My questions are...

When you arrived - did someone come down to the lobby to take you up to the concierge floor - or did they mail you cards for the elevators in advance - so you could go up yourself?

Your balcony was long and narrow with no chairs? Did that bother you? I was hoping to sit out and enjoy the evenings (with a drink *hic*) after my DD was tucked in for the night.

I have seen photos of the lounge - did you find it comfortable with adequate seating? Did they have movies on for the kids?

Was the concierge staff friendly and welcoming?

How was the bus transportation to MK & DAK?... I hear they make multiple stops at other hotels.

Thanx for the report - sorry about all the questions! (not too much info out there on BC concierge)

welcome back!!
I saw on another post that there was construction just beginning at the quiet pool wing...did you see any of that or hear any info on how long...

...and we are hoping to stay in that same wing (although not concierge) on either the 3rd or 4th floor were there any trees that would block the view of lake on the lower levels and was the pool area really noisy???

thanks
denise

>>^..^<< - I hope these answers help.

We received an access card for the elevator about a week before our trip. So we were able to head up to the concierge floor as soon as we arrived. Now this is my only disappointment with the BC - we arrived at the hotel about 7:15pm (our flight was late leaving Boston), the driver took the bags out of the car and there were no bell services people around, we waited a while and then someone showed, he put our bags on the cart and told us it would be 35 - 40 minutes before he could deliver them to our room! Well, it was 95 degrees and we had jeans on, we needed our shorts! We didn't want to wait that long, so brought our bags up ourselves, a little bit of a pain. I noticed several folks doing this throughout the week.

Our balcony was a mix of a full/standing room balcony (room 5687). It was as long as the room but narrow like the standing room only ones with no chairs. I too was hoping to sit outside after my DS went to sleep. The view was great. My DM and I would stand out there at night. You could probably pull the desk chair out there and sit sideways. When I get my pictures back, if I have a picture, I'll post it.

The lounge had adequate seating. There were tables and chairs, I can't remember how many, no couches. The tables were never full. We sat there a couple times, mostly in the early evening or just before bed time. They also had a TV with with Disney movies or Toon Disney on. The TV was right in front of the children's size table. My DS loved sitting there with the other children.

The concierge staff was very friendly and welcoming. There was only one person who didn't seem too friendly and I only saw her one morning. The staff were great with my DS. They always talked to him. One staff member even gave my DS a pin for his Birthday! Because of the heat, we changed a lot of our plans around and the staff made new Priority seatings arrangements for us without a problem.

The buses to MK and DAK go to the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach and BWI, in that order. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. We only had to stand once to go to the AK and that was the extra magic hour morning. One morning the bus to MK was empty when it got to the BC and it filled right up, so we went directly to the MK. I found the bus service to be very good from the BC. We went to check out some other resorts and at those resorts we waited for buses.

I hope these answers help. I know what you mean about not much out there about the BC concierge, so if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

princess lovers mom - We didn't go over to the quiet pool area but one morning I did notice some workmen heading that way. I also saw some windows covered with a white tarp on the outside (this was from a distance). Also, at the beginning of the week, there was a sign saying "pardon our appearance...." inside the resort in the hallway but it was gone by the end of the week.

There are some trees that may block your view of the lake. Regarding the noise in the pool area, when our balcony door was closed, we didn't hear a sound. When the door was open, you could hear people laughing and some splashing but it wasn't loud, it never bother us.

MNT568,

How funny! We were at the Beach Club April 28 - May 1 and we were also in room 5687!

Wasn't the view great? Did you notice that you could also see the big sorcerer Mickey hat from MGM and the Tower of Terror from the balcony also?

The first morning we were there, there were hot air balloons flying over the Boardwalk. It was gorgeous.

Also, Mike Eisner himself was staying in the Newport Suite (at the end of the hall if you turn right when you come out of the elevator bay) at the same time. We saw him in the lounge one evening with one of his flunkies. We talked to some of the CM's about it and they said that they were pretty "stressed" when he stays there! I'll bet!

Later in the week we moved over to the Grand Floridian and saw Drew Carey at lunch on our last day. It must have been our week for celebrities.

It was hot and humid the whole week that we were there also. Hope ya'll had as good of a time as we did!

Hi there,

Thanx for all the extra info (inquiring minds want to know!)

I am looking forward to our stay in August and your report made me feel warm and fuzzy about BC.

:D

rgoble5972 - That is too funny! The view was great from this room! I did see Tower of Terror but I never saw the Hat, I wish I had noticed it. I loved watching the ducks play around the pool in the early morning.

That is funny that you mentioned Michael Eisner staying there. About half way through the week, we noticed that there were a lot of "suits" and security walking around, especially on our floor. I wonder if it was because of him. But we didn't notice this until Wednesday, so maybe someone else important checked in.

We had a great trip! I was so sad leaving. I want to go back!

MNT568, Glad you had a nice time and sounds like you had the best view in the house! Can't understand why they wouldn't put a regular balcony in that you could use.

We're at the YC Concierge in 110 days!:Pinkbounc

About Stormalong Bay does it really close at 7pm? Any idea what the depth is at the bottom of the side or depth at the lazy river? DD (9) is an iffy swimmer. Good till she has to take a breath and wondered how worried I'm going to be!

Did you eat at Cape May? I love that place. We hope to try Beaches n Cream this trip.

Take care,
Sharon

Hightown - Last week SAB was open until 10:00pm, I m not sure if that is standard but it was very hot last week.

The depth of the pool by the slide exit was about 4ft something inches, you need to able to exit the area unassisted. The lazy river part of the pool was mostly 5ft and at one point it went to 6ft. Most of the pool was 3ft something inches. Which was great for my DS (5yo). He loved that he could touch the bottom. I bought him a noodle to lean on when he would float into the deeper sections. It cost $4.20 and we used it all week. I gave it to another family the night before we left.

We had my DS's Birthday Breakfast at Cape May, it was very good. I love their breakfast buffet. We never had dinner there. We went to Beaches and Cream once for lunch and it was very good.

Have fun at the YC concierge! I want to stay there next!

they play in that pool at night too, even when you jump in they don't move unless you get real close.

Thanks so much for your report!!! We will be staying BC concierge June 12th - 20th, and like you said it is so hard to find any info on it!! I've asked alot, but do not get to many answers, so it was exciting to see your post!! I was kind of worried about the construction going on there as we were told back in September when we booked our trip that it would be through by March......alot of money to pay to look at construction work, but you made it seem like it wasnt so bad, thankyou. What about the rooms? I heard they were just renovated.......what did you think? Hated to hear you couldnt sit on the balconys..........you'd think concierge at least would have balconys you could sit on.........strange. Would you go back their again?
Glad you had a wonderful time!!!!

ContemporaryGirl - I would definitely go back! The rooms were very nice. They were bright and cheery. They felt new and fresh. We had a day bed in our room which was nice. At first I wished we had chairs on the balcony but it wasn't too bad. We did enjoy the balcony and the view. I was very happy with our room and its location.

Regarding construction, I never heard a sound. From our balcony, I did see some workmen walking around in the morning heading toward the quiet pool area and there was a white tarp over a few windows (not many). If I remember correctly the concierge floor doesn't extend all the way to the quiet pool area, so it shouldn't bother you.

I hope you have a great trip!

Thanks so much for the reply, you made me feel so much better about our upcoming stay!!

Thanks again!

Contemporary Girl,

Just to let you know, you can sit on most of the balconies on the concierge floor at the Beach Club. There are a few balconies that are "standing room only" like the one in room 5687. If you check out the Yacht/Beach Club FAQ at the top of this board (click on the thread that says "WDW Resort FAQ and Information Threads), I think there are maps of the 5th floor on the first page of the FAQ that show what rooms have full balconies.

This was my 3rd stay but only the first time that we had a balcony you couldn't sit on. Honestly, we didn't miss it at all. The railing blocks your view when you sit so we rarely used the chairs anyway.
