Just Returned From AKL. Upgraded + Highlights.

Just returned from a couple of nights at AKL (and HRH at USF/IO). Got upgraded from a pool view to the Sunset Savannah. Reserved with APH rate. Stopped by Guest Services at Downtown Disney to get the APH card, but they never asked for it at check-in. I get the impression that they have your AP info in a computer. Could be wrong. Notes:

1) Upon asking to be upgraded, we were informed that we were already upgraded.
2) Service at AKL is top notch.
3) Savannah views at AKL are very nice. Although we were in the sunset Savannah - there were not always animals outside our room, whereas, it seems like in the center Savannah (Arusha?) there were always animals there.
4) Jikos is an excellent restaurant.
5) Transportation was not bad. After illuminations, we were able to walk to the bus area and board immediately for return the the hotel.

I just got back from AKL too --- and I also was not asked for my AP upon check-in. I certainly hope they would know whether I had one or not. I'd hate to think I spent the extra money on an AP for a discount I could have received even if I did not have the AP in hand upon check-in. Note that my AP was not yet activated when I checked in; I did not activate it until the next day when we went to MK.

I wonder if Tyler or anyone else can provide any insight on this?

We have stayed on the Arusha savanna twice and we did not always have animals out side of our window. The animals are free to roam the savanna at will. The lodge does not garentee that there will always be animals outside of your window. I think they even say that on the channel that comes on when you trun your room tv on at the AKL.
