Just Rented Points

We didn't have any points remaining but realized we would have some time and annual passes. So we booked another trip by renting points. DW has never stayed at OKW, so that's our destination in April. I was surprised at how easy it was. I got a confirmation within hours and was able to link the reservation to our existing account.

I compared a room at OKW to PORS for the same time, and it was a good $40 cheaper per night before taxes by renting the points.

I have never considered renting our points, the kids would kill me, but it is nice to know it's an option in a pinch.

I bet you might have gotten two nights in a studio at OKW for what you can buy in one time use points. Then you'd have full control over the reservation.

But you probably got rented points for less than $17 a point.

But I couldn't have gotten them yet being outside the 7 month window. My dates were firm.

I know some DVC owners would think you were crazy for renting points, but just like you said, when it is outside the 7 month booking window, it's still a good deal. I've also had a little luck with "trading" points, such as owner wanted my BLT 11 month booking window, and I wanted his AKL window. I also have never had trouble renting points out when we aren't going. I love this "ownership" much more than another timeshare I own.
