Just read the Passage...spoilers...questions

I just read the Passage by Justin Cronin. I liked it. I was surprised I did...thought it would be too vampire/gore...but it wasn't.

I grew attached to many characters such as Amy and Wolgast and it was hard to go on after Wogast passed away....but I enjoyed the new stories.

I really enjoyed the story of Peter/Amy and the others..but here is my gripe...

the very last page...very last sentence..."I hear shots outside"...then the epilogue statment that says "Roswell Massacre"....

I was like WHAT...your telling me in two sentences that everyone at Roswell was massacred and in my mind the story stops for Theo, Maus, Hollis, and Sara??? WTH....no way.....

future book or not...I was ok with the ending for all the characters but to tell me that those 4 that I really liked were massacred really put me off. I was mad and bummed. of course with her journal comments through out the book I knew she died...eventually....

and that is the way I wanted it...eventually...

now some others might say...well you don't know who lived or died...but I took it that she died that night (Sara)...and THAT bummed me out.

other than that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would...what about you ???

I really liked it as well. I was also peeved off that it ended that way but I don't necessarily see it as they all died. I just assume that the journal stopped at that point. That's all the last sentence means, that it was the end of the journal.

I am also looking forward to the next 2 books to see where the characters go from here.

One thing I both liked and didn't like about this book was that none of the characters were safe. As soon as you got invested in someone, they up and died. You just never knew what was coming.

I also read the book this summer and loved it..can't wait for book #2. I don't think everyone was killed too - just that something catastrophic happened and the journal ended. I hope the next book will pick up right where #1 left off..with another journal entry.
