I just read a review on trip advisor that concerns me. The hotel guest said that the main pool is 52 degrees and NOT HEATED. WOW! that would really bother me. That's very cold. The regular plain pool is heated (big deal!)

Was that the only complaint? Doesnt sound too disturbing if the only complaint was a cool pool at this time of year.

When were they there?

Also, this place has SEVERAL pools and it is possible that one is heated and one is not.

This is a VERY nice hotel. One thing about Trip Advisior, it brings out professional complainers. I have read some truly amazing things there and sometimes wonder if some of their "reviewers" are not trolls for other hotels.

They said they liked everything else. The pool is a main draw at this property and I'm sayign taht I would have been disappointed if I couldn't enjoy it. Another "plain" pool that is heated is no big deal to me-for that I'll stay home and go in my pool.

when are you going - if the summer don't worry it will be very warm (expect in the morning) - now it just depends - on a hot day I would think it would be okay.

WDW is the only place in Orlando that I know of that heats the main pool.

the trouble is that they generally have a waterfall or something similar - and because of that it is just about impossible to kept the temperature up - so why do it?

Susy,

The pool area at HRGC, which is one of, if not THE nicest in Orlando is actually more than one pool which border each other. While it is true that the "main" (largest) pool is not heated, the heated pool is large, beautiful and does have a slide built in to the surroundings. The underground grotto area and the area under the large wooden bridge are not heated, nor is the area with the largest slide. Just wanted to let you know that the heated pool is anything but regular and plain;)

We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress March 5th-9th, and the heated area of the pool was heated to 84 and the unheated area was posted to be at a temperature of 71. It was fairly chilly outside when we were there (low 70's with wind), so we stayed in the heated area. BUT, the heated area is NOT plain. Yes, it's a smaller area, but there's a small waterslide for children and it borders a cave-type area with additional (unheated) pools and several hot tubs. It's very pretty and there's plenty of room. We thought the grounds of the Grand Cypress and the pools were wonderful! There's a nice beach right by the pool area. Surrey and regular bikes for rent. Stables for horseback riding. A playground. Jogging trails. You name it, it was there.

After that, we moved to the AKL for 3 nights and loved it too!
