Ran Last Friday - we got back on Sat July 6 from amazing Fantasy Eastern trip. I ran this 3 yrs ago on our Wonder trip. I saw so many questions about this I thought I'd update. Last time there were maybe 25 of us running, we met in a stairwell on Deck 1 or 2, course was not marked at all, no shirts or medals. This time it is a lot more organized but not as much as 5 or 10ks you may be used to running at home. Sign up in the Tube the morning of the race. Interesting there was no mention of the race all cruise long until the Navigator the night before. You need photo ID to sign up. Over 100 folks signed up. HUGE PET PEEVE were the people getting bibs or with family that did not run - they just wanted to get off the ship first. They skipped the run and went right to save seats on the beach.
Actually had a little breeze so it wasn't crazy hot, but did have to stop for water - which I usually never do in a 5K. Water stop is before you enter the loop and you oass it a couple times. All running levels were there - high school cross country superstars and first timers - which was great to see - especially after we all had been eating non stop for a week! Much better marked trail with arrows, but no mile markers - misleading signs that say how far you are to the runway, not what mile you are at. Loop around was easy to follow. Nice to get Mickey Medal at the end. Didn't see anyone taking finish line pics which would have been nice - so have your family take pics if you want ones of you finishing. And best part is celebrating with a cerveza on the beach!

Did you notice if they were selling T-shirts? If so, where were they being sold and how much did they cost? Thanks!

How long did it take you to get organized and get running? I really enjoyed running it, but it ate up a chunk of the day with all the waiting around, organization, walking, etc., and left DH to get the kid and my parents off the ship. Plus it HOT by the time we started. I promised I wouldn't do it again so I could be there to help get everyone off the ship. But maybe if my experience was just a fluke... ;)

Really?! I told my husband about the folks signing up for the race only to be the first off the ship to grab a good beach chair. He said they're probably those lame people who are out there 'renting' the handicapped at WDW so they can skip the lines. Seriously though, that's just wrong.

I know it was a little bit ago, but they were selling the CC 5K shirts in a small gift shop that was right were the starting line was. My cruise was in Jan, so I know a little bit ago....but....can attest they were there:)

They did at the very end of April too!

There wasn't any mention of it until then on our Feb cruise, too.

If those nonrunners were on our cruise they would have been disappointed, as we were by NO means first off the ship.

Shirts are pretty basic white with the logo. $21.95. I read that some folks received a certificate in the past - they did have our name and cabin number, but never got one. But still have my shirt, bib, and medal for souvenirs.

We were actually there in the Tube that day as well. Two of my family members ran, but we had to all walk off together as we were told the head of household needed to provide the KTTW card for minors. We didn't even know we would be first off the ship until Joshie held up the paddle and said so. I'm not sure how many people actually just went there to get off first.

Your the first that I've seen that's said yes. I've always had my son with me for every 5k I've done. This would be amazing. Do you know if they have jogging strollers to use? I didn't plan on bringing mine.

What exactly is "a good chunk of the day?" My husband wants to run but is a little concerned about how long it will take. I'm assuming there's a trail and the race isn't on sand?

What do you mean by chunk? How long did it take? How much waiting around? Was it maybe just the wrong chunk for you to be missing from your family??? What time did it start and what time were you able to rejoin your family? The race itself cannot take that long.

Yes, there are tons of free city elite strollers for use on CC (many right by the starting line) perfect for running (as well as pushing kids across sand to the beach; wagons, too, btw). My experience did not take a good chunk of the day. I signed up in board, got my bib, went back to my room for a few minutes and then went ashore. The race started 10 minutes late or so and then it's over as fast as you run. My family had already settled in to the beach by then, but I didn't miss much. No more than if I had gone to the gym.

Glad to get this information as I have a family of runners. ::yes::

Are there age requirements/restrictions? My DS will be 11 when we cruise and typically runs 3 5ks a year with my DH. I would love it if we could all run it as a family (DD will be 9). Will we all be allowed to run it together?
