Since we're having NO luck with our mexico vacation over presidents week- I decided to call WDW and see what they had.

Given rates change on the 17th, the rooms are reserved the 16th thru the 22nd. We've booked the dream maker/silver, to make it as close to an "allinclusive" as we can. without going overboard. etc.

what can you tell me about POFQ? I do know that this resort was rehabbed this spring

The pool? Food court? Transportation?

And the crowds this week....horrid? managable? Stay away???

I need to discuss all of this with the rest of the gang this weekend, as we have until the 1st for the downpayment.

There's a great FAQ POFQ link in one of the past posts here. I'll bump it up. It really helped me!

We love POFQ so much that for our next trip in December I passed up good rates at the Dolphin - supposedly a four star to
POFQ's 3 star rating - to go back to POFQ. POFQ is one of the smaller properties (might be smallest I don't know of the top of my head) and very quiet. And while the rooms are not as big as those in the deluxe properties, they are very nicely themed. For us, the room is a place to sleep and shower and stash our stuff, so we didn't care if there was lots of room. If you do plan to stay in the room, especially with a couple of kids, for long periods of
sentient time, you might want to make other choices. But then,
it's not like there isn't a ton of things to do other places instead of
being in your room. Overall, if you're trying to get a bunch of folks to sign up for the Grand Gathering, you'll have an easier sell on the price at POFQ. And I think the value for the dollar is terrific.

We also liked the food court, where when we were there last I could get up early and drink coffee and eat Beignets (which, if you
haven't had one, you're in for a treat! Although if you're on a non-carb diet you'll have to slide off the wagon during your visit and
rationalize that all the walking you'll be doing outweighs the carb
discretion.)

Finally, we loved the ambiance of the place. Relatively quiet, except by the pool, beautifully landscaped, themed with the wrought iron and colors of the French Quarter, it was everything I dreamed my WDW trip should be, and was the major reason I always recommend to folks to stay on-site - our experience was that great.

Have a good trip.

PS. As a political science professor, I loved your quotes at the bottom of your post.

I stayed at the POFQ this past June. The rooms were fine, not fancy, but attractive & clean. I liked the pool area. I mostly hung out in the baby pool since my son wasn't quite 2 at the time. I thought that the food in the food court was just OK for dinner and the prices were pretty reasonable by Disney standards.

The bus service was pretty efficent and we did not have to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus (that includes the parks too). We traveled to MGM and Magic Kingdom. POFQ is the first pick up and then it travels to the POR. You also get dropped off first which is nice.

Don't forget the boats to DTD! One of the highlights is definitely that trip down the Sassagoula.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

thank you all! I found the FAQ thread, when I first looked all I saw was the POR, not the POFQ...am very glad I did!

The pool with the slide looks fantastic- and of course, being from VT, even if it's only 60- well thats warm enough for our kids to swim!

It looks like this might just be more of a trip come true- than a dream right now. DH called 1 of his brothers tonight and gave him the run down on a "person who HATES themeparks thought" of WDW..needless to say- DH says even if we go in February with everyone- we can still go in November of 05!

YEAH!

thanks again
