Well, I broke down and bought tickets for DH and I for end of Jan.-Feb. 2010.
The prices for flights from our small airport are high for that time period compared to what I could get through Sept. on Travelocity. However, I used half frequent flyer miles and half cash for the tickets. The total came to $384 for the 2 tickets including taxes and fees. Question, If they change our flight times do we still have the option to change flights or are we out of luck? Also, how much of a change has to be made before you can adjust a flight? We will be on NWA and I picked the flights because of only one stop/layover each way and the departing time on flight to Orlando was the only miles flight left to choose from. Would they let us take a different flight with the miles if they changed the flight too much? Sorry this is so long and thanks for listening.popcorn::

Most likely by the time you actually fly, you will be using Delta Air Lines, which is merging with NorthWest.

It really depends on what changes are made to your itinerary, but odds are there will be changes made. It will be up to you to call the airline and see what the best option is for your travel. If you don't like the answer they give you, ask nicely, but firmly for another option, if there is one.

Good luck!

Last Sept my 9 p.m. NWA flight got canceled two months before my trip. I was give the option to pick another flight time but it had to be the same day as my orginal flight. And there was no additional cost to do this!! In reality I wanted to fly out earlier in the day but the cost of an earlier flight would have cost more than the 9pm flight. So in the end I ended up with an earlier flight with a cheaper price after all.

You may need to sign up for a free frequent flyer account number (if you don't already have one) to do this, but 90 days before your flight you can logon and pick your seat assignments using the 6 letter ticket code.

There are normally fall adjustments by airlines, usually dropping more flights than normal if sales are slow for the upcoming winter season. The folding of NW into DL is ongoing and lots of schedule changes are happening. Sometimes it might be substituting one aircraft type for another on a particular route as they reposition the fleet for better utilization, resulting in five more or five fewer seats on a given flight number. Due to this, don't be surprised if they change your schedule three times before you actually fly. Watch you email inbox, and enjoy your flight.

Thanks everyone!

I've never booked with the split, half cash, half FF miles. Sounds painless enough though.:cool1:
