Just ordered my daughter's Senior Prom dress, a little sad

All of these Senior "lasts". Last child at home too. I'm so proud of her and so excited to know she is facing such an exciting time in her life but where, oh where, did my little girl go? She has grown into a beautiful, confidant, capable young woman.

This is her dress, in the peacock blue.

I wish girls around my area still wore dresses like that instead of the slinky dresses they do. Several neices have graduated in the past few years and I don't think there has been a hoop skirt or crinoline (sp?) at one of their proms

A true southern belle! I agree about hoping the trend for classic dresses returns to the midwest. Every prom dress I've seen in the past couple of years are tight and revealing.

Your daughter's dress is beautiful. My DD wore a ball gown, too, for her senior prom but was definitely in the minority. She looked stunning as I'm sure your dd will. Enjoy these last few months and milestones--it goes wayyyyyy too fast. MY dd is already a sr. in college--so hard to believe.

Thanks everyone. The dress is by Mori Lee, it is their Vizcaya line (# 87032)which is more of a Quinceanera dress. Here many of our girls still choose more of a ball gown look. I'm so glad they do. There are a few tight, straight dresses but I'm glad my daughter likes a princess look.

The straps are beautiful. They are rhinestones in clear and blue. I think just some really beautiful earrings and a wide bracelet. Hair up with maybe a few wisps hanging down. I also think of Cinderella.

Keep your fingers crossed. I ordered the dress today. I never feel safe until it is in our hands. I never knew that ordering and receiving a confirmation doesn't mean anything when it comes to a prom dress. She would really be upset if it is not available or sold out. Hopefully by doing it early we won't have any problems.

WOW, I love the dress. When is prom? We don't have prom until mid May here so I don't know that anyone is thinking about dresses yet . DS17 is a senior but I doubt he will go to prom. I keep telling him that he better keep his ears open if one of his friends wants to go and doesn't have a date, he better step up to the plate and take her. I will pay for it.

DD14 has it planned out that she will go all 4 years in high school, she will go with her brother this year and just get asked by a junior or senior next year (can only go if asked by a junior or senior or if you are a junior or senior). DS17 said he would NOT take his sister to prom

Prom is early this year, late March. Most of the kids here go. It is a small school and social events like this are rare and treasured.

Sounds like your daughter has it all planned out.

My daughter is a blue eyed brunette so I think a blue dress is a good choice.

Aww Penny, your baby girl, Sarah, is going to look so beautiful! So glad her illness is in the past and she can have fun with all the involvement of her senior year . Having 3 DD's who attended proms in 80's we have many special memories traveling far and wide to get the 'special' gown . Thankfully beautiful ball gowns were in style then also! I know the bittersweet emotions you are going through, do enjoy these special days sweetie! The best is yet to come!
